  1. Hi Angelvic,

So whenever you get a nice fishm, your wife will tell you that it's about time ?

Jeez she has some HIGH expectations of you !

So now when you come homwe without a jew, it;s gonna be 'where's the jew ?' is it ?

That's a very nice fish mate.

Where do you get your live yakkas from ?

Going to watts reef or the yarra bay suction is too far....

    Tony

Thanks for your and the rest of the Raiders coments, I look at the above mentioned spots , but instesd of going there directly I scan any drop off on the way. If it holds bait I'll give it a go and usually the bigger predators are not far behind. As for the high expectations from the wife, yep your right, but in saying that we release most of the Mulloway as they are a magical fish to catch only once.

  2. Well fellow Raiders this is a very late report, but you know how life can get very busy these days. This was around mid Feb.

The old saying "good things come to those who wait" couldn't be further from the truth.

Now it's not everytime I have an opportunity to fish with the bride, but I reckon she's a good omen. How many times

have I tried to hook up to a decent Jewie and managed nil or Salmon or even big Tailer, now don't get me wrong

there's nothing wrong with the above mentioned , but when your live yakka or live squid gets taken by these thieves

instead of the Holly Grail, well your spirit is dampened. Anyway on this particular day I had a good feeling, the tide was

high at 7am, 2 days before new moon,7km NW winds oh yer the wife in company. As we made our way to the bait

grounds, we manage to find Yellow Tail in an area where it drops down from 4mts to 8mts with bigger fish holding close.

We managed to drift at this location and berley with mashed up bread and pillies, within 15minutes we had a dozen or so.

With Squid caught the day before and enough live bait we set out to anchor up wind and drift back on the spot mininizing noise.

By now it was 6:15 am, we put out 4 rods at different depths and distance. At approx 6:45 the lightly waited yakka

started to vibrate, I gentley grab the rod wait 10 seconds and start to lift the rod, the fish loads the rod and takes its first run.

I let it have it's way before it took about 50 meters of line when it started to ease back. I started to reel some line back when

the head shakes started. I then knew that this could be my PB. The fish took another run, but this time it was short.

1O minutes later the unmistakable silver/purple flash appeared, I leaned over put my hand under the gills and she was onboard.

Looked at the misses and said "What do ya reckon love" She replied " well it's about time you got one" .

The fish went 99 cm and just shy of 10kg, What a day in the Bay.

  3. Hi fellow Raider,

Went out to the FADS on Friday 20th, plenty undersize Dollies and heaps of Dolphins. I think you might be right about the number of Dolphins. Managed a 10kg Dollie.

Trolled out wide for nothing, couldnt find the tempreture change or bait schools.Still had a great time anyway. biggrin2.gif

  4. Hi mate,

I found that if you contact Lowrance in Sydney they will guide you through the set up. when you give them a call make shore that your in front of your unit.

  5. Mate , you can try middle ground in Botany Bay between 630am to 900am for bream and whitting. You must berley and use live nippers and fresh prawns.I've been fishing once a week usually with top catches. Then you can try the drop off in front of the Novetel for the run out tide for stud whiting.

Evening Raiders , im looking at going out into Botany Bay on Sunday. Has anybody had any luck with anything recently. I have not been out in the bay for about 4 weeks but ive definately seen a slow down in the fishing in the past 2 months. Just wanted to know if anyone was on to anything ????

  6. Hi mate ,

I went out last Friday, high tide was 9:30 am. Started fishing 6am at middle ground. The secret is berley, yabbies and fresh prawns , not frozen. A bean sinker size 2, 1mt fluro carbon 8lb,size 4 hook and 6lb main line. Stop fishing at 11am for 5 snappers at 33cm, 6 bream to 35 cm , 4 trev to 30cm and 1 founder 40cm. that was a normal outing , some times it's double that. Move around 50 mts in the area if you don't get fish in 30 minutes. Keep the burley going, it's the most important factor of the equation. TRUST ME. Good luck and Tight Lines.

  7. Well it was one of those days I'll never forget. We started fishing middle of the Bay,15 blue nose bream to 40cm. After the high tide it went quite so we decided to have a go at the drop off in front of the Novetel. Well another 5 blue nose breams and 7 whitings up 47cm. All were caught on Hawkesbury prawns and yabbies. What a day in the Bay.Tight lines.

    Hi mate,

I use to fish the Old GAS works at Manly, at the end with the harbour in view. You can catch your live bait there. Float one out 1.5mts under a float. I also use to put one on the bottom, sometimes if your lucky you can hook up to a jewie. Try spinning with some raider style lures. Best times are 3 days before a full moon or new moon and 3 days after with a high tide on sunrise or sunset .I hope this helps you out, Tight lines.

    regards,

    Angelvic.

  10. First time fishing report,

Hi Raiders, went out to Botany Bay on Monday 01/02/10. Sorry about the late report, fished infront of Sandringham baths 300mts out. 615am to 930am, the tide was running fast but you know the old saying, no run no fun. The bait used was chicken breast in parmasen , skirt stake and old prawns, first cast landed a 32cm snapper. After that 5 bream all about 30cm mark , not bad so far untill the wind picked up and that was the end of it. I'm always amazed that when the wind picks up the fish go off the bite, on the way back to the boat ramp birds were diving around the Brighton area 500mts out. Out comes the 2kg weapon loaded with braid and a 10grm silver bullet. A Mack Tuna smashed it instant and 5 minutes later in the net, beautiful I though bait for next time. A cast later the reel starts to lose line at an alarming rate, with only 150 mtrs of 2kg braid the chase was on. 20 minutes later the familiar green back and yellow tail comes up from the depths , to my suprise the King went 71cm . With a massive smile on my dial another cast into the wind, the lure gets smashed on top of the water with full view of the hit. Again the chase was on , this time a Sambo around the 60cm mark. This happened again , happy with todays effort distination home it was. Sorry , no photos due to camera on the bottom of the Coral Sea at Hamilton Island the week before.

    Tight Lines...

    Regards,

    Angelvic.
