  1. i have been waiting for an opportunity to bring this up.

its great what they are doing but i think they should fix all the nav poles in the river before they go out and target us punters. Some don t work or flash reallty lightly amongst a few which throws you off.

i fish the river regularly and still find it confusing, its very dangerous and should be addressed.

    who do we speak to?

  2. the bloke at Parsley bay is getting paid....

also the information collected is for the DPI and the statistics used will be presented under sustainability issues in the near future.

Very important information which i dont like sharing with them, i think it can only be negative

  3. Gees someone must have got a Jewie last night/early morning.Seemed like conditions would be good.High barometric pressure, hight tide 3.30am.Or are you fellas keeping them secret? Lol.

tides are aweful wrong moon phase.

id still give it a go but ill wait 5 more days

  4. Hi LittleNoah, Seeing you are staying at Bar Point, drift fishing as you are favouring would certainly be a very good way to go tomorrow. You can cover a good range of contours and depths by drifting diagonally between the two bridges, regarding drifting from the Newcasle side towards the Sydney side as being your main drift. Vary your drift by running your motor to cover the entrance of Mooney Mooney Creek, which starts at the northern side of the Road Bridge and you should also cover the entrance to Mullet creek which is also on the Newcastle side just east of the Rail Bridge, and don't forget to bring crab traps and be sure to drop some at the entrance to both those creeks.

You would need to motor back to the start each time but rather than going all the way back to the Vines (opposite Milson Island jetty) unless you've done well with bream and flathead there on the first run of couse, start your next drift from the very deep water in fairly close back back towards the Vines from the Mooney Mooney boat ramp, a good jew spot and also a good ground covering drift that not many people do including those launching at Mooney Mooney and motoring off towards the blue horizon.

You should be able to control the run tomorrow in the run out tide with the moderate north easterly by using a mid price parachute type sea anchor and a little bit of straightening up by running your motor occasionally.

It would pay to have a jew rod out as you will be covering a lot of ground while drifting and use that rod hands on, opening the spool occasionally to pause the bait, particularly over the sandy deepwater sections and keep on doing that then cast the bait again.

When you pass the Sydney side of the rail bridge keep drifting past the railway cottages each time and try to cover the sandy section about 100 yards out from the shoreline and drift right back to the red marker past the railway cottages. You will be fishing in about thirty foot of water that drops into near fifty at the reef which you'll find is between the red marker and the green roofed work shed.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

all the bait is up river thats where the fish will be.

start at bar drift to pumpkin 3 or 4 times on the mangrove side. very productive.

if that fails head to spencer

  5. Hi Gang,

I'm looking at a half day on the water to teach a young guy and his dad how to fish for a feed at Bobbin Head, can tinnie's be hired from there ?

    Cheers

    Roffo

    yeah you can hire them.

but whats wrong with the black topender?

  6. Palm beach is a smear memory of what it used to be.

Mate what i suggest is get into your street directory and search for little beaches, ocean or pittwater wharfs etc. t

Then go searching, back yourself at your new spots as long as they got the right characteristics and you will be pleasantly suprised

  7. i dont think its so in depth you may have to change your approach but the fish are still there and you can really clean up if your fishing the right places.

I remember on our last big tides a change in spots produced 3 jew 6-10kg right on the change of tide and on the next tide right on the change a 21kg that was on the full moon.

its more about changing your approach rather than fish going off the bite its all about thinking outside the square

  8. mate dont be disheartened for one you were fishing in a area where the current would have been running stronger than any other part of the river hence the bridge is built where it narrows therefore creates a bottle neck and you get a great surge in water and with the huge tides i believe your plastics wouldn t have even touched the bottom, secondly those smaller fish normally sit out of the current in these conditions, places like porto bay would have been a better option i believe

    tight lines

  9. i catch my own and buy it Goulds squid that is and let me tell you the jews don t discriminate if they have been frozen.

in saying that you must freeze them properly so they preserve there qualities eg skin colour, eyes, and smell.

  10. bad weather is one thing i love fishing in. The rain most of all keeps the water traffic to a minimum which i think has a posative effect on fishing.

after a huge amount of rain i no in my neck of the woods the catches decline and will normally take a couple of weeks before the action gets back to normal.
