  1. I can recommend this sounder enough. It is the best sounder i have ever owned. I have made mine for just over a year now, i do mainly game fishing. My 620 picks up browns no worries at all. The deepest i have picked up is 360 fathoms will cubing. I great from finding bait in the bays and inshore reefs to marking kings on the 12 mile or marlin on bait balls over the shelf.

Like i said i cant recommend it highly enough it is a great piece of equipment. I wish i had this unit from the start.

  2. BROADBILL'S FISHING TOMORROW AND BILLFISHER'S DOING AN ALL NIGHTER ON THE BROADBILL SWORDFISH TONIGHT.... WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW WE GO. WE ARE FISHIONG EVERY DAY THROUGH TO WEDNESDAY SO WE ARE HOPING FOR GOOD WEATHER AFTER THE PAST FEW WEEKS OF HORROR

    Ross,

Is Glenn fishing with a charter onboard or is it a private arrangement.

Be very interested to hear the results.

  3. Finally got to go out ..........

Got to Browns really late , we had only one hour of fishing . We were hooked up with in ten minutes of cubeing........... but lost him.....hook pulled .

Luckily we got another one , i tried to pull it in as quick as i could , so we can set another line , and the bugger nearly beat me .

Here are some pics . incl one of a water spout . ( look closely )

    Cant see any pics mate

  4. Congrats on the good day fellas

That would have been a great fight a marlin on a evet

I was also out there mate the weather was magic, its always more enjoyable when you arent getting bashed around.

We hit the FAD early and got some nice dollies prob to about 80cm. We where the first ones there before sunrise and got a few fish but over the follwing 30 mins about another 20-30 boats arrived. and the fish seemed to slow down and it got to hard with more and more boats arriving. So we put the spread out and headed for the shelf

We headed south and found some good water with bait and 22.3 degrees we worked that area for a couple of hours for nothing then we headed in at abot lunch as we had prior commitments. Look very fishy though

On the way in, in about 55 fathoms we ran over water that was 23.7 degrees. We where spewing

    Well done again

  5. I fished in one in the old days when I was back at my old job and I must say that they ride well and turn in really well , so much so that I nearly fell out of it the first time I went fishing in it.

We called it the red sports car of the sea , it was just so nice to drive around.

I once took the 4.55 Poly out through the Bar at South West Rocks and scored my first Marlin in one.

I need to get more shots like this but next to a GoFish boat instead , all in good time......I wonder if they would do a Purple poly ?.

    regards

    GoFish Pete

    Thats awsome mate

  6. Hey Iain,

Well done Mate, nice feed of fish.

Sorry for being rude and on the phone last night, but the :wife: was giving me these ones..... :04::diepig::mattarello::1fish::action-smiley-073:

Mate i hope your missus doen't read fishing forums cause if she does you will be a bit deeper in the shit with that last post

  7. Hi stumpy

Electric reel lovely.....im still doing it the hard way....with a deck winch spooled with 150lb braid

my trace consists of aprrox a 5 mtr length of 400lb trace with a loop crimped for the swivel

to connect to....then at about 1 mtr spacings i have a dropper of 130lb at about 450mm long

crimped to the main line and with a mustard 16/0 circle on the buisness end..........

four in total down to the bottom with a length of of 60lb looped and again crimped

this loop is the connection to the sinker and serves as a sacrificial breakaway........

if snagged....as i said i prefer to go down with the lightest weight possible

and all things been equal quite often a 1lb sinker suffices for me....

there are plenty of variations which i will let some one else add to

hope to see you out there for some sensational...tucker....

    Warnie.......

ps... stay clear of luminous beads.......

Can you tell me more about the lumo beads any why yto stay clear of them Warnie

  8. Well done Iain and crew... I'm sure the rigs you made up last night will get a workout of the comeing weeks... great feed and good company thats what fishing is about.

i just got to stop cutting the main line when i am halfway through making the rig :1prop::1prop::1prop::1prop:

  9. sorry lian didnt mean for it to sound like i was haveing a dig at you

i arrived at the same time with two other boats at 6.45 that pro boat

was allready there......we started with the usual 4 hook rig drop

but loaded up on all 4 hooks and with the current applying pressure we busted off

on the way up on both reels.. we tried again same result.....

so dropped back to 2 hooks with one reel with boat held in reverse and proceded to load up

every drop we left at 10.30 did not want to take it to bag limit we had more than enough......

say hi next time i may off been able to talk you into swapping

some cod for gemmies....... ungry is the boat name....

    Warnie...........

Nah mate didnt take it like that at all.

If you hear me out there mate give me a call my boat is 'Reel Addiction' and i will do the same.

    Cheers

    Iain

  10. Mate i gotta agree with the gemmies they are great tucker

i am a 7.2 broadbill we were drifting the western drop off

away from the gemmies it really exploded between 7- 8.30 am

got a sneaky feeling ....just about when you might of just being getting there????

maybe you were a fraction late for the initial early bite ??????

ps.... light sinkers no heavier than 1 kilo...........that be the heaviest

pain in that current though it was moving.........

    Warnie.............

Thats right mate we arrived about 8.30-9.00am will try and get out there a bit earlier next time, will give you techique a try next time, what did you end up with ????

Is your boat name Ungry Warnie ????

  11. Hi lian

a method i was introduced to a while back and have found to be very sucessful

at brown's and worked a treat again for us on sunday i subscribe to the big bait

light weight theory when fishing browns in most cases reasonably heavy weights are employed

    to get down..........

but in fact a substantial lighter weight will produce a much better result

you will have to give the winch a helping hand and as sunday reverse up

to keep in touch with it but once down there........the fish are quickly onto it

we loaded up every drop sunday with that method and the class of fish

for us was of better qaulity averaging 15-18 kg we came across no gemmies

we have dropped our traces down to 130 lb reasonably light for there

but have experienced no problems when i say big baits we were using

full squid from the markets at about that 350mm long with full fillets of

mullet on the other hook if you have never tried that before then

give it a go you will sure enjoy the result..........

    Cheers Warnie..........

Thanks for that mate appriciate it i will definatly give it ago next time, i personally prefer the gemmies to the blue eye i think the gemmies taste alot better but that is just my opinion.

What boat where you in mate, i heard you on the radio.
