  1. Howdy fellow Raiders. . .

Went down to Rosebay yesterday after work around 6pm, Bought some Plastics and Jighead's and thought I just have a few flicks. . .

Just fishing along the flats and about 10 casts in a slow retreive had nothing. . So changed spot abit further up and first cast produced a small what I believe to be a Tailor? but you guys can verify for me =)

For the next 2 hrs, a few big hits but no fish. . but thats what you expect from fishing =)

    Cheers

  2. Hahaha very true. . . Might head to the fishin shop on my lunch break and see what the guys can give me to have a shot. .

All good victor hahaha they can get like that. . Yeah mate caught abit of sunburn lol but had a hook up probably 20 mins after you left then busted off! possible flatty. . hahaha but all in a days of fishing

Might start heading down after work for an hour or so with some plastics to see how i go. . but might head down on the weekend again to have a go at the whiting and the flats :)

Bastard whiting! frustrating seeing a massive of school of them and having them chase you're lure only to lose intrest a second later!

Afterwards i went and bought some gulp sand worms in natural and blood red with some nitro 1/32, 2 & 4 size jig heads to give a shot on our next trip down!

Has anyone had success with whiting on the SP sand worms and how do you rig them? they seem a little bit to long i wonder if i shouldn't cut them in half!

ay waydo sorry i left suddenly the :wife: was angry ahahaha but did you end up catching anything after i left?

  3. Hey fellow raiders,

Was out sunday having a cast and met up with fellow raider victorski. . . We noticed alot of whiting out on the sand flats, some small and some decent. .

Want to know the best way to attract the whiting and get a decent bite or two. .

Tried out Popper's and Sx40's. . Any help would be much appreciated =)

    Cheers

Hey champ, there is a fantastic spot in rose bay which another member has pointed me to which i've frequently been fishing over the last couple weeks and have caught flathead, snapper, trevally and whiting!! I've only quite new to fishing soft plastics and no expert by any means but if you want i'm more then happy to teach you what i've picked up + it'll be fun to have someone else to fish with! i'll PM you specifics about the spot incase you feel like venturing out alone! :)

    Cheers

    Victor!

  6. Hi fellow raider's,

Was thinking about heading down along the George's River from East Hills down to Picnic Point on the 21/11/2009, Abit of a nomadic trip by foot, travelling with light gear...

Just wanted to see if anyone from around the area has any reports on if anything is biting lately and wat bait is being used around the area?

    Cheers

  7. Crackin flatty there mate, good to know there is still some fish around the East Hills way with all the construction goin on. Ill have to have a crack one weekend with the stick and blades.

  8. 700 homes & 65 confirmed fataltiies, it is impossible to comprehend the scale of this tragedy. My sympathy to those who have lost loved ones and for those who are worried for thier families.

I & I'm sure the rest of the generous folk of the fishing fraternity will be chipping in whatever we can to assist.

Toll this morning is up to 108 dead and maybe more............

  9. Hi Wayde,

I always put a leader and normally have a swivel between the two lines, tied on with uni knots. If I'm using 30lb braid then my leader is 40lb.

If your fishing off the beach, try a running sinker or a three way swivel and a pyramid sinker or one that will not roll around on the ocean floor in swell.

The length of the leader would be that of a boat rod, not a beach rod. Remember you want to be able to cast it without it catching in your guides.

The main benefit for me is not loosing braid and the fluorocarbon line is less visible to fish.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

  10. Hi guys, just bought some new fishing gear and its the first time fishing with braid - wanna start lure fishing and soft plastics.

Just out of curiousity, with braid, do you just attach the normal tackle - sinker, lure etc. to the main line or do u require a mono leader before attaching the tackle?

sorry if the questions dumb, just new to fishing thats all.

    Cheers
