  1. Hey Damo what sst chart is that your using ?

    Hi all,

Finally the water has start to push up the inside of the large eddy that has been sitting off Sydney for the last 4 weeks. In previous years when we have had fish in good numbers off Sydney this is exactly what has happened. As this edge pushes forward towards Sydney and moves the main eddy east we should start to see better numbers of yellowfin & bluefin over the next couple of weeks. I'm sure everyone will be keeping an eye on this edge and a lot of boats will be fueling up and heading south very soon!

  2. Hi guys

Posting on behalf of my friend who is setting up his boat for some bluewater fishing. He has been given a sounder/gps out of a new 700k plus rivera and is after someone to install for him.

the boat is moored in brooklyn on the hawksbury river. if anyone has some company names or numbers to point me in the right direction i would be very much thankful.

    Thanks alot.

  3. Thanks to mike and Damo for a great day out in pretty hard conditions. Looking to round up a fresh batch of lads to give it another crack in the up coming weeks.

Ps: my back Is still sore from that monster that kicked my ass, there was no way I was stopping what ever was attached to the end of my line haha. That's what game fishing is all about.

Thanks again boys and will keep in touch..

    Josh walden.

  4. Very nice King you got Josh, well done on catching that.

Did you happen to measure it at all?

Thanks Fezza i actually didnt take to much fuss on the measurements, the only scale we had on board went 1m and she went past that, as for kgs i called it for 12kgs as i also didnt have scales on board. i recently just got back from fiji fishing GTs and got this monster and i still had my drag set on a stella 20000 for them and this king was still pulling line. amazing how strong they fight.

  5. Think this is my first post as i usually just sticky beak the reports on this site. but i thought this may be a good way to start my first topic on fishraider. Day started with a troll from brown down south for yellow fin. got a touch on what i thought was a huge alby as i seen it chasing the skirt for a while trying to eat it, on a twin hook rig was suprised not to hook up. anyway went very quiet so we decided to call it a day, took my stella on board with a jig stick just in case, stop at 12 mile on the way home and first drop produced this girl. Possibly one of the biggest kings i seen out of sydney. im sure other raiders have seen bigger. anyway hope the yellowfin turn up soon but will also be happy to catch a king this big every trip this season.

  6. Hi all Raiders ,

Been trying to land my first stripey for a while now , seen a lot of them moving around and have chased them alot throwing small metal lures at them and cranking them back as fast as i can . Had a couple of follows but no hook ups yet . I have also tried trolling small skirts around them .

Can anyone tell me how they catch them , I dont know where to go from here . I have fairly high speed reels ( shimano stradics and a stella ) but the buggas wont hit it . Maybe I need the exact skirt size or lure size , tried to match the hatch but unsure what they are feeding on .

Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated .

    Cheers

Mate you seam to be doing everything right, they will basically hit anything when there in feeding mode. ive caught them on metal slugs and also trolling rapala xraps do the trick, Skirts such as jet heads. im sure your not far away from a hook up. Good luck

  7. Mate did u ever purchase another sounder and if so what did u go for..... i also have a ds500x and i also have the same problem as you when game fishing.... waiting for my divorce so i can spend some of my own money for a change and have been thinking of the hds units as well... does anyone have one with just the standard transducer and if so can u effectively mark marlin on bait balls or is the 1kw the only way to go? Anymore feedback appreciated.....cheers..Paul

I have a hds7 on a new 640c , I have trouble reading past the 300m mark on the standard tranducer and will be upgrading to a kw very soon. As much as I really like this sounder it has just turned 12 months old and has been sent away with manufactury faults which I am very angry and suprised with. Anyone else had problems with the hds's ?

    Josh
