  1. I think ill leave fly fishing alone for a decade or so :1prop: im saving up for a boat :yahoo: and yeah the gulps cost me $11 which isnt much considering how much good bait and burley costs..........

Tony, i reckon i landed the flounder only because the gulps were soggy from the heat and if watermelon is the dark green colour with black spots, thats what i was using....

thanks for the raps fellas :yahoo:

Go the SP's and the dragons next year

  2. had a quick flick at the end of charles street in ryde today with 2 cousins and my sis....after about 20 minutes i had my first ever catch using sp's :yahoo: i landed a decent flounder then 10 minutes later my cousin had a small flatty....both were caught using 4" dark green gulp worms which were a mess after i left em in the hot car all day....i had to mould my own lures

    go the sp's

  3. Last year i caught a 33 centimetre leatherjacket and inside its guts was a round white bug and we researched about it and found out it was a balmain bug.

maybe thats what these things eventually grow into :1yikes:

  4. Mike , I`m wondering if that system might be classified as netting by some enthusiastic FI.

Things is , I saw a fella at the Breakwall at Coffs or Tweed , I cant remember which , with a cone shaped mesh witches hat , a bit similar to the one you describe , and the FI`s nicked him.

    i forgot...there are laws :ranting2:

ive never used this method personally but remember seeing some bloke do it when i was young and it stuck in my memory because it worked so good  i dont think it should be classed as a net because it isnt a net :biggrin2:

  5. just your average salt water set up... although it is best to take a sample of the water that the fish was caught in and adjust the water to suit. the bigger the tank the better (this one is around 4 ft but very deep)

use the biggest canister filter you can afford or 2 for even better circulation and it is essential to have good water movement in this sort of tank.

fish are all doing very well

  6. i have a better way of catching those little buggers...

get a large plastic bread loaf carrier(the type tip top deliver there bread to shops in

)and cover the inside with flyscreen mesh, attach ropes to all 4 corners, cover the mesh in wet bread and lower into water where little poddys are, when they attack the bread lift the device out of the water quickly and wallah....... :biggrin2:

  7. Do you like pristine freshwater rivers, wildlife in abundance, rugged mountain range country, canoing and sleeping along the banks of the river as you go ??  No 4 star accomodation.

Just a little creature that lives in the mouth of various fish..
