Hey people,
Id really appreciate any help or advice with techniques for crimping stainless steel wire rope at home. Im redoing the winch rope cause the metal loop support thing was rusted, and im on an anti-rust campain at the moment!!! Anyhow, got a nickel plated thing from bias, which was probably a dumb thing to buy given that im on an anit-rust campain... anyhow, crimped it in a vice pretty damn hard, and you guessed it, the bastard thing slipped out with the first bit of tension on it...
Are there any tricks, or a special set of crimping tools you need? Thanks in advance...
Cheers.
I see you have had a lot of replies but thought I might add my pennies worth.
Go to your yellow pages, search for "Wire & Synthetic Ropes and fittings" in your area.
I have worked in the Crane Industry for years and found the guys who supply slings and crane lifting gear to be very helpful. People who specialise in Marine gear can be rather expensive so just you normal wire rope supplier may be cheaper. A crimp on a wire rope will cost you only a couple of $'s most of the time they will do a small job while you wait.

Poppers are pretty expensive, if you tie a bad knot you could lose $15. Has anyone made poppers that theyve caught fish on? if so, howd you do it?
thanks
Hi maybe this site will help. http://www.make-your-own-fishing-lures.com...er-fishing.html
Back in S Africa we used to make them out of a piece of broom stick painted white, I have seen many Muloway taken at dusk and dawn in estuary mouth.

Thanks Guys, I cleaned up the old paint and put on a few coats of old fashion grey hammertone. I tried a small spot on the existing paint and a bit of bare aluminium, seemed to stick well. Looks a lot better than the old Yellow/Brown. I have almost finished adding a carpeted floor.

Hi I am new here. I have purchased an older Tinny and want to spruce up the inside paint. It has the origional, off yellow/brown. Would anyone know what paint this is and what I can safely paint over it. I tried a small patch of etching primer and this caused blistering.
Thanks in advance Dennis

Can anyone I.D this fish. I would venture a guess at Leopard Cat fish, based only on my observation.
Caught him on prawn off the rocks at Kiama. He went back in after smiling for the camera
