room for two more, myself and a mate?

Much to my amusement I caught the same Jew last night in the hacking. Slightly modified rig. Same location around the same period of the falling tide.
This time I had 2 hooks pinned in a huge yellowtail fillet. 4/0 Light circle at the tip and 6/0 circle down at the fat end.
It goes to show they aren't too fussy about food when they are on the chew. Last time it was frozen self caught squid. This time frozen self caught yellow tail.
It was also good to see the circle hook do its job and only hook the corner of the mouth. This poor fellow didn't need any more damage after being caught on Saturday night.
You can see its the same fish by the damaged scales up near the dorsal fins.
Quick question - can you get something to tag small fish for research?
(The first photo is sat night and the second photo is from last night)
How funny, here you are catching the same Jew twice and i'm still chasing my first.
Well done mate.

Hi guys,
Was wondering if there is going to be a Fishraider Tuna day this year? Still a little early I know but its a great day out, and I still need to catch that first yellowfin

Good news Tinnygirl. Should be some bargaining involved seeing that you are buying a fair amount of stuff. If i remember correctly you had a fair bit of stuff stolen. Maybe post some pictures of your new gear.
I did have a fair but of gear taken, but wasn't really given much of a choice with the replacement, but to be honest i'm just glad to be getting the same gear back.
Pictures will absolutely come as soon as i get my hands on the gear and not to mention have it all baptized with some salt water.

great news & good luck. which bay are you heading to?
Chris
I was hoping to hit Botany bay depending on the weather.

Congrats on the new gear and good luck breaking it in.
Just wondering, how do you insure fishing gear? I'm guessing you are able to claim it on your contents insurance? Do you need to provide receipts for all the missing gear?
Never had that problem and hopefully I never do but I don't have receipts for my gear so just curious as to how you went about it.
best of luck for the weekend.
Hi Littlenoah
My contents insurance covered my gear lucky enough - phew...!
I was in the same position as yourself where i a had no receipts for my gear to be able to prove that the gear that was taken wad gear that i actually owned. Lucky enough, we've had all our insurance policies (9 in total) with the same insurer and only ever made 2 theft claims which i think really played in my favour. I did have a couple of left overs from the theft which i could show the insurance rep that the gear i had was not the+_+_) specials.
I didn't get absolutely everything back with y claim but to be honest, i was and am absolutely speachless with what they did approve.
I'm not contemplating insuring my fishing gear on another policy on its own, just to make sure that i am fully covered in the future.

Thatis good news all brand new gear , as for the fishing, go anywhere and make an adventure out of it .
Hope you get a few and take your digi camera with you..
Cheers..
The camera has definitely got an invitation to come along this weekend, fingers crossed I just get to use the damn thing though.
Either way, it’ll just be great getting back on the water.

Hi fellow Raiders,
About a month ago i added a post titled - "stolen fishing gear, mongrels about".
Well today i can finally post the best news i've received in a LONG time. The insurance Gods have finally come through, and on saturday i will have brand new fishing gear back in my hot little hands - woo hoo
So yep you've probably guessed it by now, rain, hail or shine i'm hitting the water this weekend and breaking in the gear.
Question for any Raiders that hit the bay and know it well - where to go??? What bait to use??? What can i expect this weekend???
Any hints or tips on where i can take my tinnie and break in the gear would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for all the reply posts that offered support and advice, it meant a lot to me.
Ok that's if from me for the time being.
Keep up the fantastic posts and hopefully i will see you on the water some day soon.
Tight lines everyone.

Sorry for taking so long to reply to everyone.
I just wanted to thank everyone that sent me their well wishes and the advice i received on avenues to look in too in an attempt to retrieve my beloved gear.
I just cant wait until i'm back on the water, rod in hand chasing my next post to add to fishraiders.
Thanks again to everyone that responded and who read my post.
Hopefully the bad luck ends with me and no one else has to endure the heartache i've had to go through.
Tight lines everyone and i can't wait to read your next posts and not to mention see you on the water.
Keep up the great posts everyone.
Cheers

G'day fellow fishraiders,
This is my first post on the sight and personally i would have preferred to be posting up some photos of a days fishing session with a couple of mates but instead i'm writing a warning post to fellow raiders especially in the Lidcombe area.
Wednesday (25/03/09) night while both my folks, my best mate and myself were sleeping, i had some heartless mongrels come on to my property and in to my garage where i stored all my fishing gear and not to mention where my german shepherd cross rottweiller dog sleeps, and pinched ALL my fishing gear except my new Plano tackle bag which i had just filled up with new gear.
The mongrels took off with 12.5 rods (the dumbarses only took half of my graphite Daiwa heartland beach rod which is why the total came to 12.5 rods), 12 reels which varied from heavy bottom bashing shimano reels through to my teamDaiwa excelsior flathead/bream reels. They also took my small plano tackle bag which had a fair bit of gear in it too.
So if you live in the Lidcombe area, make sure you keep your gear well locked away and out of sight, because the mongrels that hit my house not only left me with no fishing gear they also left my dog dazed/drugged out which has only just worn off 4 days later.
tight lines raiders and up yours to the mongrel/s that pinched my gear.
