Blood Knot
Hi Raiders - Fished IC this morning 5.00am till 10.00am for 1/2 doz flatties, best of which (about 55cm) escaped as I tried to dead lift it from the water and swam off with my favourite SX40 stuck to its lip. Got a couple of bream (to about 28cm). First on a hardbody for along time +1 small whiting on softplastic. Allways a nice morning down there, watching the girls (sorry mean the world) go past. Flattieman
Well done. Shame about the lost lure/flattie, though. Flattieman.

Blood Knot
Flattieman - Cheers for the well done. Only compensation for the lost hardbody was that I managed to choke a few toads with some old softies I no longer treasure. Also forgot to tell, have reliable report of bream around Dawn Fraser pool at Balmain for anyone interested. (and thanks Chris) John

Guest madsmc
Some nice fish there mate, sorry to hear about the SX40. On the topic of dead lifting fish, I used to do that myself and lost my fair share of flatties due to their head shakes once clear of the water. I've recently invested in a soft mesh landing net (environet), one with a large head size and long handle. It's great for fishing land based and I haven't lost any more flathead (or lures) at the landing stage. As I mostly do C&R that style of net is good for the fish as well. Should be interesting to hear if anyone else catches a flattie with an SX40 in it's gob. Shane
Blood Knot
Shane - I used to carry a small lightweight (trout type) landing net, but not much use when fishing off walls or embankments. So looking for something that’s real light and has telescopic handle (to say 6 feet). Happy enough for them to fall off and lose the odd jig head as I release fish from that area anyway, but would like to recover the hardbodies first. Having said that the line broke at the loop knot so serves me right for not re-tying it from the previous week. John
crystalliser
swam off with my favourite SX40 stuck to its lip. I'll keep a lookout of your sx40 and if happened to catch the bugger again, i'll retrieve and return to you, how's that!
Blood Knot
Crystalliser - Thanks, I was waiting for someone to say that. Now I just need to hope the trebles dont rust out before it gets caught again .
