Hi Raiders,

Myself and 2 mates Bill and CR@ZY OS@M@ had a fish on Syd Harbour Tues morn,

launched at Rose Bay 7.30 went just inside Middle Harbour.Bottom bashed

for awhile for a couple of keeper Bream. Then CR@ZY OS@M@ started casting a metal

lure around when we noticed Kingys following it to the boat.We put out a couple

of unweighted peeled prawns and bang one rod goes off,and I land one King of

62cm.CR@ZY OS@MA continues throwing his lure about and 10 mins later another King

follows it to the boat, and as he turns away from us,zzzzzzzzz he takes one of the

prawns,Bills grabs the rod and he boats a King 58cm which is released.

over the next hour and a half we boat,a Flounder 36cm,1Tarwhine 34cm,

1 Bream 35cm,3 Long Toms 71-78cm,2 Trevally 32 and 36cm,and I lost count

on the number of undersize (and annoying)Snapper we released.

We decided to head back to Rose Bay via the western Wedding Cake,we stopped

and cast a couple of metals as close to the pylons as we could,a King follwed

the 1st lure back to the boat, then turned and swam back to cover. We drifted

a couple of prawns back towards the pylons, then one of the baits is smashed,

and line starts stripping from CR@ZY OS@M@'s reel,as hes fighting this fish,we hear

the sound of a boat behind us,we turn to see a US warship escorted by 4 police

launches and a bigish twin motored police inflateable that had pulled up beside

us,the 6 coppers on board screamed at us to move away,Bill and I start

winding in our rods,CR@ZY OS@M@'s trying to land his fish, and they call out,"We know

your on a fish but you must move away now,or we will move you,put down your

rods and start your boat."I felt like telling them to relax and calm down,

the warship was still a good 250mtrs away, and we were not in its path they were

way overeacting, what would of happened if we were anchored at the time.Anyway

we moved,CR@ZY OS@M@ lost his fish :05: the Yanks and their escorts passed by,we

went back to our spot and anchored, and proceeded to drift our baits back to the pylons,

5 mins into it zzzzzzz CR@ZY OS@M@'s reel started screaming,I tighten his drag a touch

for him,I look at his rod tip and by the way the fish was trying to get back to the

Wedding Cake,I inform him hes onto a King.He screams out loud WOOHOO.

I then tell him theres 2 more Navy ships comin in,he looks over his shoulder

and yells out BU@LST :ranting2: (hes a king virgin).I say "Relax there ours,

and no police escort,"A few mins later he lands his 1st Kingy 61cm :yahoo: .

In the next hr we boat 2more Bream 27-28cm,and a heap of slimeys(most

released). Then it was time to head home.

Sorry for long report but wanted to get all the good(or funny)bits in.

Cheers

I didn't think you could eat the fish out of the harbour at the moment?

Dan

Small amounts and besides, the fish weren't poisoned overnight, they've got the same dioxins in them as they've probably had for the last 30 years.

Good report, though it gives me the willys that we've got to relinquish our rights to free access to public land just because some friggin yankee death trap comes a waltzing through the harbour :mad3:

Great Report.

There's something about the prawns at the moment.

I had a session off middle head last weekend with my mate, we spoke the night before and he said "don't worry about bait, i've got it sorted" So i didn't bother and we turned up early. Rigging up on the way through the spit, i decided to get a bit of berley ready and asked him for the bait, he handed me the bag.

LARGE COOKED KING PRAWNS. I said mate, there's no cooked prawns in the ocean, we not going to catch S$#t.

We rigged up and threw them out anyway, and floated them near the heads, next thing, XXXXXXXXX, on to a nice 70cm kingy, next cast, got onto another nice 67cm Kingy.

I'm still eating my words!!
