abiasin Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Headed out to Port Kembla late Sunday 19.3.2006 arvo with my brother and a mate bout 11am. drifted a buoy opposite a beach directly opposite the northern breakwall. No sooner did the lines hit the water we had a rat king in the boat and a half decent salmon. The kings were going crazy for 6" pink and white sluggos on a quick retrieve. ended up ith 3 keeper Kingies and a few throw back bonito, trevs and a dirty salmon. not a bad way to spend a couple of hours in Dragons territory as a panthers fan.
Lewis Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 G,day Kings. Welcome to the site, the fishing has been pretty good around port of late, next time you're down this way venture out to the back of toothbrush island you will know it when you see it hence it's name and if that don't work pig island just a bit further out around the wash on the north western corner can produce some very good fish.

Flattieman Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 "kings til I die". Sounds like a good session. What's this about "dirty salmon"? - I think they're good fun, but probably don't even rate beside kingies. Flattieman.

Flattieman. no dont get me wrong salmon are great to catch, the one i got last weekend flew through the air after it took a whole squid. the taste to me is dirty which is a real shame being so plentyful and good fun to catch.
