9090 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Hi there, Good day. Interested in the Shimano Biomaster II... 1. Duno where to get it 2. the suggest retail price 3. Any internet link on the item description? 4. Is this an old model biomaster reel or new model biomaster 5. The drag strength for like 4010? Whats the meaning of 10? Many many thks
Lunker_Hunter Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 The Biomaster is released for the Japanese market. It's the model above the Ultegra & below the Sensilite. Similar to the Stradic. The new 2006 model Biomaster are great, they are lighter & look like the older Stella's. You are best importing them using eBay, which is also about the only place you can read the specs in english. I believe they have a 4kg drug which is enough unless you're chasing pelagic species like Kingfish. You might get spooled by a 10Kg Kingfish with that sissy drag. They cost around the same price as a Stradic though don't come with a spare spool, so you may be better off just buying a Stradic since you will get a warranty etc. plus if you needs parts you don't need to speak Japanese in order to get them. Go on eBay (not the local one) & use the search feature. There are always a few on there.

This Biomaster II interests me is becos of its secret (why only available in Japan but not world wide?) Why so little informations? As for the drag issue...I really dun think is such a great issue...sometimes if drag too strong the rod will break...my personal views about this.
9090 Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 only if you have an inappopriate rod for the setup Agree but sometimes is difficult to justify whats an inappopraite rod...mostly are frightening unknown pulls...experiences plays an more important role than the rod and reel. No pain No gain, break a rod and learn a lesson. Do u know any info about this Biomaster II reel?
outdoordan Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 As far as i know the Biomaster is basically a Stradic for the japanese market just with a different finish. I was looking at importing a Biomaster 1000 but opted for a Stradic for the ease of warranty etc. and i paid less than what it would cost me to import 1 for. though if you are looking to import a reel, look at ebay, there prices are quite resonable. or look at www.plat.co.jp its the only site ive found thats in english. Shop around you will be surprised how much you can save. Cheers Dan
