Matthead
Started out from the Esplanade at 6am and headed up to some of our favourite spots and I soon had a small Bar-Tailed Flattie. After about an hour drifting over the top of some rocks beneath us I soon realised it was all about my friend who has been fishing with me a grand total of 5 times (beginners luck.... yeah right!!!). His first fish was a 25cm Jack, a fish I've been looking forward to catching for about a year now!!! After I had expertly chopped 10" from my Berkley Dropshot rod with the Jig Head while casting, I made a comment to my mate that he would probably go and catch his first Flathead on it ......... Yep you guessed it a 55cm Flathead nailed the Gulp and gave him a good battle. He then landed a 30cm Bream and a smaller Flathead, all with the snapped Dropshot. After 2 hours passed I was getting desperate and we decided to have a quick flick around Avon wreck ........ no joy there either!!!! By this time I was feeling a little dejected and had to catch some fish before we had to leave. On the way back to the ramp I notice a nice litte sandbar and decided to float around there for a bit. Bingo!!! I was in to a small Flattie but I lost it due to a blunt hook .... I must get a sharpening stone and super glue it to my head!! I hooked and landed 3 other small flatties and severely saved my Bacon. In total we had 8 fish in a session which had everything from a snapped rod, blunt hooks and my mates first Flattie. All fish returned alive and kicking. I'll post pics as soon as I get them. Matt
