Little_Flatty
Hey everyone, Been happily reading everyone's reports without posting any for quite a while now so I believe I owe you all a report Inspired by all the father-son fishing action that seems to be happening on the site at the moment, I decided to try this father and son fishing thing once again. As my father and I can be a bit sometimes, this was a bit of a risk, but I thought it would be worth it to see if we could revive the old days when we could fish together happily . So early this morning we head off to IC to flick some SPs. Arrived at about eight to catch the top of the tide. After a quick tutorial (this was my dad's first time using SPs) we were both on our way working SPs over the flats. When I decided my dad had his technique down pat I started fishing too and promptly nailed a little bream. Not long after this my dad nailed his first fish on SPs - a little flatty. 'Wow, so these things really work!' 'Are you going to take back all your comments about my 'useless' lure collection yet?' 'Not yet.' My old man can be a bit hard to convince sometimes, even when there is a fish in his hand Anyhow, we start casting again and about twenty minutes later I land this little guy: My dad still isn't convinced... After a little while the hits seemed to have dried up, so we go for a bit of a walk to find some deeper water. This was when my dad made the cast that changed his life: A little miffed that I was getting outfished by an absolute novice, I pulled out the secret gulps, but this was all I could manage: 'So you can get flathead on these as well can you' 'Well...YEAH ' So with that in mind, this was my dad's next effort: Try as I might, I couldn't top tha. This was as good as it was going to get for me: Anyhow my dad is now well and truly hooked on SPs and is now starting to utter words like 'Loomis', 'Certate' and 'Fireline'. With the right training I think I might have a lure sponsor for my fishing trips A good morning out. All fish were caught on bass minnows, 3 inch gulp minnows and slider grubs. We released everything we caught. Mike Edited April 14, 2006 by Little_Flatty
