choteo
Headed up to Port Stephens for the Easter break. Weather was great and water conditions beautiful in the morning and evening. Fished the Islands outside for some Mackeral Tuna (all released) and bottom bounced for nathin, until these little babys came on…. awesome fight with the Whaler…. Summary, nice plate of boneless fillets and a good feed of Blue Swimmers…. Regards, Choteo.

Gibbofisho
you managed to stay in the lines! How'd the bronzie taste, i kept one a few weeks back and it had a weird soapy/chemical taste to it? MAybe i didn't clean it fast enough?
choteo
Yeah, the Bronzie was/is nice. I immediately bled, gutted, skinned, filleted and iced it. It’s rather bland meat and you need to add your liking for taste, which works for me because I don’t like fishi taste fish… (if that makes scense). I think the secret is to get the skin and guts out ASAP…. As for the crabs, once painted RED, well what can I say….BEAUUUTIFULLLL…. djmac
did u eat the shovel?
choteo
did u eat the shovel? Yep, also very nice. White, boneless flesh. A little more fishy than the Bronzie. Although not considered as table fish it makes good eating.... Regards, Choteo
Gibbofisho
Ahh cool, i think it was that it was so bland that i would try and find taste in it that wanst there! Shovels taste great i reckon, i'd keep another one if i caught it for sure!
djmac
ah ok cool. i catch a heap of them of late so may as well give one a go!
choteo
Yep... Shovelnose is good stuff, no doubt about it. Especially if you have young children - no bones and easy on the digestive system, very tasty yet not to fishy... Defiantly beats fish fillets from the fish shop...!!! Who knows what you’re really getting there….??? Regards, JM
