Guest danielinbyron Posted May 6, 2006 Share Posted May 6, 2006 (edited) its everyone's favorite time of year here post blues fest ..lower number of tourists perfect autum days bait fish in close mullet running out of rivers... in brief jew fishing has been crap with the odd one taken here and there mostly around river mouths..but for the amount of guys fishing for them v few...but as with unrequited love ..hope springs eternal and i'm going to turn it up a notch this month.. the mackeral season never really got off the ground either but the ones that were here were big.. 12kg barries and4/ 5/6 kg spots.same with dolphin fish though we never got any.. didn't go harrd for them either.. still rat yellow fin to four kgs around and mack tuna scourge of the troll are thick so maybe some blue fin soon... still the odd king fish.. but whats made up for it has been lots of cobia... some awesome snapper even some smaller decent size snapper off the rocks... wahoo madness right now theres an eighteen kilo beast on my porch boated by my flatmate daz..and from repo.rts they seem to be running every day except when i get to go out.... this mornings spinning off the rocks at groper near tallows yealded 4 green backs 6 turrum two mack tuna and a saw back carrying them home..the turrumn have been fairly consistant but six is my best session.. my first jew fish in three months was about 4 or so kgs ..for a moment it was hard to adhere to my own size limit of 8kgs for jew.. but back in the drink he went... i hope you catch him in a couple of years.... and he gives you hell...as for me i wanna catch his grandad Edited May 7, 2006 by danielinbyron Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

"snapper" etc ............ Enjoyed the report (thanks) as I have family in the hills and wonder if it's worth the treck - with all the gear. How about taking a CAMERA? We'd enjoy going green with seeing your bag limit of 8kgs..... mate i am struggling to get photos on... what file type do they have to be... got some great pics just can't post em...they are small size like 192kb but error vcomes up saying exceeded global space or file too big blah blah and yeah come up keep it simple travel light.. i been off line and at work for a while but i'll check in every couple of days.. looking forward to heading down to illuka and getting blue fin off the rocks..
