ant1000
Hello! My brother in law and I are thinking of going halves in a boat, but me being a uni student I dont have a great deal of spare cash. My bro in law is a sheet metal worker, and can weld anything. He has been told about these boats you can buy in a flat pack, which are all machine plasma cut panels that you weld together yourself. Does anyone know how these boats perform? Or how much they cost? The outlaw reckons you can a 6m deep V for about 10 grand. The motor we already have is an injected Mariner 70hp, so the 6m may be too big for that but do you think it is better to buy bigger boat and then upgrade motor? Or buy boat to suit motor? Space isn't an issue as the boat will be outside under a carport built for a caravan. Thanks guys (& girls!) Ant:)
Guest fishrunner
here's an idea for you, some have prices some don't, http://www.marinekits.com/catalogue.php?catid=7 there's a bit of info on here requarding what you may be after. I do like the 4.5 centre console,- looks tough(the one with the transom), I would normally say buy the boat you want and get a motor to suit , not the other way round. good luck,

I have built one of CDM's boat kits - it's took 12 months part time to do a 5.5mtr. There are 3 other companys on the internet that I can find (I am looking for a new provect). Plate Alloy www.platealloy.com/boatkits.htm Marine Kits www.marinekits.com and Allucraft (not sure of address) My 5.5mtr is a ripper but I now want to go bigger - it cost about 6100 for the kit delivered 5 years ago and finnished on the water about 20k - abig saving. I priced a new boat - 6.3mtr razerline and that came in at 54k - I can buid one from Plate Alloy Boats for about 28k. I'll check back next week to see if you have any more questions. Stretcher Keepem tight an hope they bite.
