newatthegame
Just wondering if anyone has used a Maple ecotech graphite spinning rod from freddy's before. Are they any good? They are fairly expensive but i feel there are better rods for the money. Any suggestions Thanks
Guest madsmc
I've got a Maple Tibron (7'). It's not too bad for throwing light sp's and harbodies, but you're right, there are better rods for the money. I use a Shimano Raider Bream Finesse (7'6) now, so the Maple rarely gets a look in. Maple are a Freddy's brand, so be aware that they will push them pretty hard. The last time I bought a reel at Freddy's they were pushing the Maple reels. They seemed alright, but for the same dollars you could have bought the same style of reel from one of the better known manufacturers. If you can provide us with a bit more info, then I'm sure some of the other Raiders will be able to offer you some advice. What will you be using the rod for, ie: plastics or bait, and are you boat or land based? Shane
newatthegame
The rod will be mainly used for soft plastics but i would also like to used it for bait and hard bodies as well. It will be used in a boat most of the time. I went to freddy's looking for a rod and they did push the maple gear. I have never heard of them before this. The maple rod i was looking at was originally 300 odd dollars and reduced to $170. But i also saw a shimano Steve Starling SFS for like 90 bucks. I just would feel bad to pay alot of money ( for me anyway) for a rod brand i ahve never heard of. Is there any other rod sugestions for soft plastics for around $150? Thanks

Another Raider has caught a 7kg jewie, 4kg salmon and 40cm+ bream on them - he's got two! to the site. Flattieman. newatthegame
Thanks flattieman. Might go and buy the SFS rod then. I think they are 20% off at the moment
