Bashir Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 will check my moulds later today, don't think I have a small snapper lead mould but will check. The antenna was for a friend with a yacht, but he managed to get an antenna.
FletcherG1991 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I have a large range of moulds here, including the small snapper mould. how much are these molds ? as it has been a long time since we made sinkers
caine Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 the moulds are available all over the place. where are you supposed to buy lead from??????
Bashir Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Yeh they're cheap when you're a full blown lure chucker.
Flattieman Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Yeh they're cheap when you're a full blown lure chucker. and you are absolutely right Here Here! I too have read in magazines etc. that making your own sinkers is probably not worth the hassles/risks. Flattieman.
Bashir Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 yeh gotta admit the only time I make them is when I am bored at home, but you can put together a fair bit in a couple of hours, but yeh the fumes are pretty hamful.
Bashir Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 lead also explodes ive had a crucible full of molten lead blow up and most of it land on my face back in year 10 in science when i decided it wasnt heating up fast enough and thought id shove the bunsen in the crucible for some direct heat air bubbles make them go BOOM too CFD try pouring water over molten lead, guaranteed to cop it in the face.
Guest DV8 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 try pouring water over molten lead, guaranteed to cop it in the face. Snapper moulds are really dear to buy. When i priced them a couple of weeks ago, decent ones cost about $75. Lead is also really hard to get these days. It is illegal for the scrap yards to sell it to us when i enquuired a couple of weeks a go. davo
Guest Big-Banana Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I work construction so I can always get lead, however its just not worth it anymore with all the risks involved.
