Fishing The Tweed With Jewhunter

I've been a member for while and this is my first post. So bear with me (pun intended).

My mate Jewhunter put the hard word on me about coming up to his new place in the Tweed! Fish off the back yard he says ... bream and flathead he says. Hmmm I thought.... he's pulling my leg.

Now I've known this bloke since we were knee high and in the past he's put me on to my personal best jewie 113cm 14kg, rainbow trout of 52cm, 38cm 1.1kg bream on soft plastic, 75cm flathead on soft plastic and recently an Aussie bass of 38cm on a pearl blue bass minnow.

So truth be told we went for a wander down his back yard and tossed some bread into the water to see bream come up and surface feed!

They smashed that bread like we were feeding them with blood worms, an incredible experience. I was gob-smacked! My mate then went one better and pulled up his bait trap which had a good quantity of live prawns. After missing a few we had a ballistic session on small to medium sized bream. We kept one of legal size for the crab pot and got a few muddies to boot. Bloody awesome! Next day I caught a Flattie on soft plastic, yep, right off his back yard. It’s been fun!

Went up to Clarrie Hall Dam for some Bass fishing. One of Jewhunter’s mates lives right on the dam, so after a quick chat and a beer we grabbed the canoe and headed out. Jewhunter was on his first bass in minutes, 40cm of angry bass. Well there was no stopping him, he landed and released 3 bass before I got my only one which promptly put me into the lily pads. With a bit of effort and some up rooting of lily pads I landed my personal best Aussie Bass. That was Jewhunter 6 to Bears 1. There’s always next time mate!

Thanks for reading this rather long winded post.

Cheers

Andrew

That was one of the ugliest fights I've seen & I really don't know how you didn't break MY rod in the process :1yikes: but the end result was good & well done on your P.B.

We'll try & better that very soon.

Cheers,

Grant.
