The Iceman
I finally got to use my new rod which I got for Xmas down at St Georges Basin and I was quite impressed with its allround ability even though I had three bream rods with me it was the only one I used The techniques I put it through included flats fishing with SX40s surface fishing with poppers gulp worms on 1/24oz jigheads gulp 2in shrimp on 1/16oz jigheads 3in bass minnows on 1/24oz and 1/16oz jigheads and 4in gulp turtleback worms on 1/32oz nitro torpedoes Reel was a 1500 shimano sedona with 2lb crystal fireline and 6lb leader Fish caught were bream to 39cm flatties to 70cm tarwhine to 30cm a heap of whiting and a lone 32cm reddie What impressed me most was the ability to feel the bites through the sensitive tip which allowed me to time the strike most important with the flatties and light leader nearly all were hooked in the mouth The only thing I would look at changing in my next rod is the butt assembly maybe to something a little smaller in diameter as my hands arent that big Thanks Saqa great outfit handled everything I used it for with ease
Guest Saqa
Thanks for the kind words mate. I am glad you liked it and it worked well for. As for the grips I can turn the cork down further if you want. its quite an easy process for me. Best if you come over with it and we can shape it to fit your hand, a true customised grip. Hooky.
So you finally got to use it. Now that the Christmas hols are over you won't get to use it again for another 12 months.
Flattieman
Sounds great! I've been doing a lot of that style of fishing with my SP MAX L76 too... perfect for flatties! (I've caught quite a few bream and whiting too). The SP MAX series really does seem to be the maximum in SP rods! Flattieman.
