Dorado 2
Mate when buying something brand new there is not much to look out for, most brands are ok and it really comes down to who is going to give you the best deal and that is something you have to go and check out the best deal you can get. Other than that the 15 hp should be adequate for that size boat. Good luck cheers
Guest DV8
I bought a 15 Yamaha new 6 years ago. I love it. It is really quiet and reliable, and starts first pull every time. The guy that services it says they are great motors, though being japanese they suffer corosion more than the motors made in the US if they are not flushed out every time. He also recomends me running it on 50:1 rather than the 100:1 as specified in the manual. When the manufacturers specify the oil ratio they are actually specifying the oil ratio if you use only their "you beaut" brand, and if you are using valvoline etc, you need to increase the oil ratio. Good luck and happy boating with your new 15. Davo
bisso
i'd buy from a reputible dealer!!! make sure they will back you and help if something goes wrong, particularly if its warranty related... also, get insurance on your new motor, for peace of mind in the long run. i think whatever outboard you choose, look after it and you will reap the benefit for years to come. in the hp range you are looking at, the options are limited to 2 or 4 stroke.. bargain hard, and dont be in a rush to buy. remember, we are still in summer and prices and trade will downturn in a few months... its a buyers market then!!! Cheers dave Hi Dave, I'd suggest you look at a Suzuki, i had a freind buy one a short time ago and he absolutley loves it. Anything you buy is going to be a good product, just make sure you buy from a dealer that you feel comfortable with. Dealers don't make much from these small engines, so if you find a dealer that is happy to spend some time with you, you will know for certain that they are a good dealer to buy from. Shop around, but i'd suggest a Suzuki, large capacity engine, hard to beat! Anglermanagement

Thanks for the tips I think I will wait for winter and get the best deal.
reel_success
most new 15HP motors should be around $2195 but i would say it may be possible to get one for $1999. Good Luck
