Penguin
Hi Raiders, Thurs Syd Harbour Tried to go outside 1st but it was a little rough, one of my mates was soon holding his stomach so we fished the Harb, was a pretty quite day, lots of small Snapper and lil Flatties. Mainly fished around Clifton, and the Wedd cake, took home 4 Flatties 40-51cm,3 Tailor 45-48cm, 5 Bream 30-34cm and 6 Trevs 36-40cm. So we all got a feed. I walked past Costi's the other day and noticed how much flathead fillets were (around $45/kilo), I did not realise they were so expensive - they were even more expensive then Yellowfin Tuna !!! Were you using your reknowned prawns as bait? No capture or sightings of Kings?

cbietola
nice day out and even got a feed , cant complain about that the last few times ive been out ive caught nice size flatties same size anout 40- 50 cm, actually i think we started to get them from last year after the ban on comm fishing in harbour came in , because the average size we used to get before that was about 30-35 with the occasional bigger one. i wonder has anyone else noticed the same thing?? Excuse me for my ignorance, but what is the diff between a flathead fillet and it's tail? I thought they were mostly tail anyway? kevvie
Thanks Kevvie. Excuse me for my ignorance, but what is the diff between a flathead fillet and it's tail? I thought they were mostly tail anyway? too true mate. The only difference is that the shoulder of the fillet has bones in it. Some bones in the lateral lines and some in the rib cage. As you would know the bones dont run all the way down the fillets. If you slice the fillets behind the bones you get a small boneless strip. Thats why they are expensive. The doctor says if u take it wen u're already sick then it wont work. Thats wat happened to me on the bus before. I took it and then a few minutes later i threw up
Penguin
FYI,my mate took the sea sickness tabs at my house b4 we set off to the ramp at Rose bay.By the time we stopped for fuel and snacks, and launched the boat it was a good 45min. The pack says take 1-2 tablets 30 mins b4 ur trip.So he should of been ok,but like i said b4 hes a freak. penguin
