Thunder Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 How choppy is the harbour and what parts of the harbour are best to fish with the wind we have been getting lately. Is it worse early morning or later in the day. I usually put the boat in at Rose Bay. What are the heads like to get bait? I wouldn't mind putting the boat in ahead of the Kingie social. Cheers Greg
Robbielites Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Hi Greg, Early morning is looking better this week, Seebreeze.com.au looks like a typical summer pattern at the moment with lower winds in the morning and NorEasters picking up as the day gets hotter. What size boat do you have? That will determine how comfortable you will be in the current weather pattern. I have a 5.4m and would be comfortable inside the harbour with 20Knt winds and 1.5m swell, but I would have stayed in with my old 4.2m boat. From Rose bay you can go to the wedding cakes to get bait and have a crack at a king also Clifton gardens is reporting well, I have heard reports of kings as far west as Birchgrove. So there are fish out there that you dont need to get into trouble for. Cheers. Robbie.
Thunder Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 The boat is 5.5m with a 225hp so there is no problem with safety or getting wet. I am just a long way from the harbour, so trying to work out whether it is better in the morning or afternoon, and where to catch bait in the wind and chop. I have upgraded the anchor since last time, so hopefully I will hold the bottom OK while trying to catch livies. Cheers Greg
