johnno
$600 is over the top i feel (don,t know the exact system) morse taper or cable you can probably change it all yourself (i did on mine boat ) just buy parts from the boating outlets and change. spinning a few spanners can save you lots sometimes if you wanted a hand i may be able to help steer you in the right direction as i see u used the picnic point ramp you are not to far away from me. PM if interested Edited February 15, 2007 by johnno

majed1965
Installed new steering cable & helm yesterday. Perfect steering now and only cost $224. Cheaper than the quoted $600. The only thing is te cable was about 30 centimetres too long, which shouldn't really matter. The next size down would have been either just right or a bit of a tight sqeeze. johnno
With a saving of $376 to spend a few hours mucking around and getting cut hands etc is alot. Some of the extra can go on a few beers or orange juice what ever takes your fancy whilst doing it or after. Well done It sounds like your fully back on the water now and time to fish.
