caine
hi i am quite good at tying a normal snell which i use for 2 hook rigs but i want to be able to adjust my top hook to suit the bait size, as squid always come in different lenghts. how do you do a sliding snell? can anyone direct me to a set of instructions. are there disvantages to a sliding snell? whats stops it from sliding to far next i want to lean how to braid and do doubles, I am getting serious about knots lately cheers Edited March 28, 2007 by CaineS
netic
Mate i dont know of any websites that show you how to do a sliding snell but if you live in the west give me a buzz....im more then happy to show you in person. The sliding hook sits pretty tight, i use some red tubing that allows the line to run through it but as i mentioned it sits very tight....so tight that it can be a bit of a bit.ch to move it..... Guest IFishSick.
You need to snell it with a second peice of line. Make it lighter than the trace. Instead of snelling it with the trace, put a second peice through the eye of the top hook and snell as you normally would, pull very very very tight then trim off the ends. Works a beaty. Another good thing to do is to always wet the line before you slide it, this means less friction and less damage to the trace.
