Guest Big-Banana Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Gday Fellas, Looking to get a bit more serious on the Bream and whilst the Sedona/Okuma rod does it very nicely, I want a second combo which can be used also for squid and throwing lures at Salmon etc. I'm very keen on the Shimano Symetere 2500, looks the goods. Good reels? Past experiences? I also need to match with a $100 rod, so something not that expensive. 2 piece preferably. Any thoughts or advice?
insolent Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Berkeley dropshots are about that price, I have a 7' rod (now 6'8" after my mate snapped the tip off) and am very happy with it. Cheers
TheDiko Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 The Symetre is the best! Super smooth, Super slow osilation and Super stopper. It's SUPER IFS
mark* Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 dropshot's are beautiful to fish with. . . bout 139 when i saw them last. regards mark
Davy Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Symetres are beautiful reels so i learned yesterday when i took it out for a test run. drag worked very smoothly! can't fault it so far.
caine Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Come down and see us, i have a few graphite sticks that will do the job and will match up to that reel i got one of wattos graphite bream sticks they excellent value
Guest Big-Banana Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Hey fellas, for those that care I decided to grab a Shimano Symetere 2500 (looks an absolute outstanding reel!), paired up with a Shimano Xcel 2-4kg and 4kg Fireline Crystal Braid. Looks a great outfit. Thanks for the input everyone. Will double as a bream/pelagic outfit and really stoked on how it feels and casts.
