Dalucius Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 (edited) We headed off about 4.45 this morning and got to the lake just on daybreak. There were two other fisherman there (we found out later arrived at midnight and had caught nothing). Geoff was keen and started tossing around his Tassie Devil (orange with black spots) while I sat in the car debating whether or not to get out in the cold. I bit the bullet opened the door and stepped out of the nice warm car put on my 'Roberta Scarf' and cosy jacket and started to rig up to use power bait. No sooner did I have my rod in my hand and Geoff had caught a nice 30cm rainbow. Well I decided it wasn't that cold after all and my hands worked quickly to thread the line through and tie the hook on, three knots tied in no time at all. I sat and waited .... nothing. After a short while the other guy came along to have a chat (and to see what we were using). As we were talking a fish picked up my bait and then dropped it. He showed me his powerbait, nice and sparkly and suggested I try it so I replace it with his fancier colour. Within 60 seconds my line picked up and splash a nice rainbow. As I landed this lovely 40cm rainbow the chap said to me "must be my fish, my bait" we both laughed as I thought 'yeah, right'. Geoff hooked another rainbow it jumped once but he lost it. The other guys caught one on powerbait while we were there and left just before us. By 11am the wind was starting to howl so we decided to try and get out of the wind. While we were moving the car we heard on the radio that they were expecting very stong winds. We packed up and headed home. Edited May 31, 2007 by Dalucius
