bolan Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 (edited) Was meant to pop down for a quote at Batemans Bay. I was actually hoping to get out on a charter boat if I managed to get a second day down there but , alas ,got postponed. A mate who is a mad keen fisho down there, told me this morning that the Yellow Fin are up there, and they are in very large numbers. The local lads have been apparently "braining them big time" -(local Batemans Bay speak!) It's certainly looking like a great season is looming Browns Mountain.......... here I come Edited May 31, 2007 by stumpy
Guest Big-Banana Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 There must be a huge patch of fish and they've grown from last years as well. Heres hoping they all come up to Browns while this weather stays good.
frankp Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 (edited) I guess they should be here in good numbers then in the next few weeks. Edited May 31, 2007 by frankp
xiphias_gladius Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 (edited) Agree with Keepin' Tabs, the water has moved south slightly (off Batemans Bay). I'll still be hitting the JB area (Drum Canyon) this weekend as fish should still be there. Good point about the wind, I'm thinking you Sydney guys will be expecting the arrival of YFT at Browns as imminent - and better size than last season. Full moon tommorrow/Sat, 5-10 knots forecast and an afternoon tide change - I would be giving it a shot!!! GOOD LUCK! XG Edited May 31, 2007 by Xiphias Gladius

netic Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Heres the seasurface chart from this morning.....most of the shelf and browns is sitting in 20 to 21 degrees with odd variations here and there...I dont think they will be here in great numbers based on the charts but there will be some out there
Guest Big-Banana Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Some patches, but not enough to hold a heap of fish. You can see why down south is firing...

netic Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 What it shows is that there is no mjor temp breaks out there at all......most variations are only minor temp changes....doesnt mean that there wont be YFT and i imagine we will see a few caught this weekend but you will probably find that only a few boats will get on....and probably well over 60 boats will head out. I prefer t what till the water that is currently of Jervis bay hits here and that fish for them...saves me spending $250 on fuel, bait etc...atleast i know i have a goo chance of getting on then...worth spending the cash.... This is a chart from down south where we know heaps are being caught
Andy Loops Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 That chart is fantastic - can you tell current direction / flow rate using this software? thanks again
