gretsch
As some of you know, my Stella 6000 was underwater for 3 weeks in Middle Harbour. Miraculously, it was caught by a mate of mine and is now back in action. Netic asked me to report on its condition so here goes....... The guys at Dunphy Sports stripped it down to give it a good soaking in Kero and a clean. When they opened her up, there was no water inside the gearbox !!! The seals which Shimano use on the Stella had prevented any saltwater entering the main body. The drag washers required re-placing as did five of the bearings. I think they did the bearings just to be sure. The whole reel is like new. The action is still silky smooth as is the drag. Cost me $130 in the end. I guess time will tell but so far, it is all good. Cheers C.
arif
Overboard gear has a way of coming back, we caught our own rod a month or so later in sydney harbour several years ago and were absoloutely amazed, but maybe fishing in the same spot each time increases chances good luck with the real Arif
johnno
I think most reels are recoverable but in saying that It depends in what components are made off. and time spent in the water. As for a stella don,t they use stainless gears etc internally it will be fine
