douglas Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Hello all, Just wondering if anyone has any suggested brands of specialised jigging braid to suit the above specified outfit. The prefered breaking is around 50 - 65pld and couloured in 10 or so metre incrimets would be an added plus. Cost is not too much of an issue. Cya, Dougy
TheDiko Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Well if cost is not an issue go with some of the proven Japanese brands like varvias. Diawa sensor braid is great aswell IFS
johnno Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 As IFS has said Varivas Avani YGK jigman daiwa sensor 8 daiwa tournament accu depth ( this is also a coloured line) these are the only multicoloured braids i can think of pioneer make one also poineer Tuna terror
Luke Wyrsta Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Varivas Avani Max 10x10 Varivas Avani Big One Zenaq Jigger Trust Some of these premium quality jigging PE lines have significantly smaller diameters. Double check before you buy, for example a Varivas PE3 tests closer to 50lb than other brands which most would be a PE5 (more commonly accepted that PE # x 10 gives you breaking strain in lbs). PE=Japanese method for measuring line diameter.
netic Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Jigman or Varivas.....both great braid..comes in 600 metre spools where the sensor braid only comes in 300 yard spools

Cya, Dougy hi fish hard. i fish with the bigger spinning reels and alveys and use power pro and ande braid around the breaking strain you mentioned. a friend recommended i try the much cheaper melaluka brand dyneema braid and gave me 200 metres . i tried it out and got hold of thru ebay 3000 metres of that dyneema braid which is in continuous spools of 100 metres in 500 metre lots. it cost less than half the price of the other spectra braids i use. the melaluka handles very well and after quite a lot of use looks like it's built to last ok. i would recommend it at the price but to be sure it might be best used on rods with good silicone guides or other guides known to be braid friendly.i am not sure about its capabilities with other rods i favour the feel of the power pro and like the ande line feed and i do a bit of jigging with tsunamis and drop bears on yankee ugly stik tigers i am not a braid expert but i am not disappointed with this lower priced dyneema braid at all and i'm a pretty frequent user. i will stock up on it again and use the power pro and ande till it runs out on my penns also roberta it was i think who metioned an australian made downrigger i looked at it on ebay and they were usuing an 80lb braid line coloured in segments instead of downrigger cable. that braid is available on ebay from a seller at cronulla i think from memory and our sponsers may be able to advise you as to coloured braids for depth counting hope this helps but again i'm no braid expert i only fish with it. jewgaffer
