coastspinna
fished the entrance today and had my first flick since like april..... quiet as for 2 hours but i never flogged anywhere cause the tide was pumpin out so i just used the time to check out the system because the flood has smashed all my reliable drop offs and holes... used the pushbike to get around to different spots and i covered some ground.... ended up at the wharf in the north channel and flicked for about 40 minutes... bang this guy came along i was travelling light essentials only and the strength of the runout caught me by surprise... i had to improvise and run a tiny running sinker above the jig head which worked well enough for me.... i could feel it tapping on the jig head and wonder if this is the ticket in dirty water..hmm...anyway back to the story...5 more casts bang lunch comes along.... sweet.. nothing special 40 cm but alright for september on plastics...i thought it was an alright pic but.... anyway enough rambling on.. Ray R
A nice little flattie, what sort of SP is that, looks like a squidgee, I am a berkley 5" jerk shad user. Sounds like you had a fun day, I'll be down to my fav spot for flatties soon, the sand flats around Lobster Beach and Half Tide Rocks, always get a few good flatties there.. Cheers Ray R... gretsch
I find you have to work an area for a while particularly if the water temp is down. The fish will be sluggish and a bit disinterested. You need to anger them with an annoying erratic retrieve to initiate the strike. Nice little Lizard .. I believe that would be the Squidgie Black and Gold Wriggler or Fish hanging out of his mouth!!
paul_pero
nice one. the tide runs pretty strong now, compared to before the flood. next time take some heavier jigheads. paul
coastspinna
nice one. the tide runs pretty strong now, compared to before the flood. next time take some heavier jigheads. paul i might have too but i hate the action i get with a heavier head... i've tried carolina rigging plastics before and wasnt impressed with the feel of it but runnin a small ball sinker above a small jighead instead of a worm hook seemed ok.... then again flatties eat anything... ceph...you are definetely right you can annoy fish this time of year into eating...you have the colour nailed it is a shad though....
