PETER GREEN
SUNDAY 16th Another day on the breakwall. Within 15 minutes I had landed a good size blackie (40cm) Things looked grim for about an hour until Roberta managed to break the drought and pulled in one about 38cms. With not much else happening java script:emoticon we finally called it a day. We will see what tomorrow brings. ('',%20'smid_17')
arpie
Hi Peter What a great fish that was!! A personal PB for you, at 40cm! A really fat one too. Pretty well on your first cast, too. We were fishing the top of the tide & the turn of the runout, so were hopeful of better things .... no-one told the fish tho! Things went a little quiet .... so, just to keep myself busy, I tried to better my previous best number of snags & bust-offs, & reckon I did a pretty good job of it!! I know I ran out of traces & was almost ready to give in when I finally got onto a blackie .... no comparison with yours tho! Mine was a bit of a slab! Shame today was so windy! We got to the wall just after the tide had turned & was coming in but the Westerly was so strong it was quite uncomfortable! Normally that is a good time to fish the wall, so we were hopeful. After 1 1/2hr of solid casting, we figured we'd better move on! OVer to Tuncurry to one of the quiet spots where the oldies usually fish - we had it to ourselves (and the wind!) I had one definite down, but the fish didn't try again, so we packed up & I took Peter on a bit of a Tiki Tour of fishing spots in Tuncurry. Now he knows where to get yabbies when you don't have a boat, a couple of good flattie spots & some bream spots. Whilst we were near the cleaning tables, a couple of 'older gents' came in to clean their fish. They were using mullet gut & had about 8-10 fish between them, caught way up the lake 'somewhere'. THeir biggest one was 40cm & had a few mid 30's. We'll have a bit of a rest, I reckon & try for them after this wind dies down! Cheerio for now Roberta
