landbased
O.k Got out of be d a bit later than usual at about 7am. Then fell asleep again to wake up at 9 Decided I cbf going to mainbar mainly because I was out of petrol and my wages dont go in untill about 2pm. Anyway got to gunamatta about 10ish and started wading and stuff. After a few casts I noticed that there were some small whiting following the popper This was happening after every cast there were lots of little whiting attacking the popper but there were too small to get hooked. After a couple of hours perfecting the technique I went home At least I now know that : a/ there were no larger fish anywhere in the bay today (asked a lot of other fisho's) b/ this has some promise and is quite fun when you can see the fish swimming upto the popper and having a go at it Maybe it will be good when I can get to a place that actually has some fish in it. maybe the flats at the end of kernell I heard about or mainbar if I can get some company. TheDiko
Good to see you getting some interest in your popper mate. I was watching a DVD the other week and Starlo was catching Whiting, Flathead and Bream on a Rebel Pop-R. It was clear in colour and matched the environment perfectly, I'll be chasing them when summer hits on 4lb When I get my P's mate (2 weeks) I may be able to take the trek out to Mainbar and have a fish IFS

Davemmm
What colour? If the littlens are following then the biggens will be there soon. Remember the time of day and cloud cover and then match the colour later in the year. Dave BTW Gunnamatta flats won't hold many biggens even in summer. They are there but not in numbers. fibbo
I'm loving your posts landbased, as I am land based also eheh you got me interested in those poppers! If you go mainbar get a $20 refurbished nipper pump from the tackle store coz catching nippers is fun on its own. When I pumped nippers at the wrong time ie. medium tide, there would be stacks of small whiting swarming around trying to steal the prize. I think i'll try one of those poppers just for fun =] Cheers, fibbo.
landbased
I saw an episode of rex hunt where he did that on purpose. He just pumped and spat it everywhere, where he saw a nipper he kept it but it was mainly just the act of pumping and putting nippers in the water taht saw him get heaps of bream
