GK510
After not having much success catching anything on the weekend, I decided that I would have a crack at a night session down at Narrabeen. I started off near the bridge at the caravan park but it was fairly quiet. I managed to pull in a couple of small whiting of only about 20 cms. After these two it went very dead. Virtually no bites at all meant it was time to move. Next stop, just near the Woolies bridge. I was glad to find that the action was much better down there. I was getting plenty of bites straight away. I pulled in a couple of small tailor and bream before I felt something much heavier on the end of my line. I was surprised to find that I had a double catch. I had hooked a bream that was about 20 cms but my leader had also managed to wrap itself around a blue swimmer crab! See pics below. I also managed another bream that would have been borderline on 25 cms. I had three bust offs from quite substantial hits. I was only using 6lb line with a 10lb leader. It amazes me the amount of different species that can be caught in the lake. I have caught Bream, Trevally, Flathead, Tailor, Whiting, EP, Stingray, Octopus and now Crab. And this has all been from using the humble peeled prawn. I guess it good to know that the Lake must be in good shape. Apologies for the first pic but the little shutters over the end of my camera lens didn't open completely. I didn't work this out until the catch was released.
