No Longer A Virgin

Hi all,

Lately I've been trying to rid myself of my no fish ever hoodoo in the harbour.

For the last 3 weeks I've gone over to clifton gardens as that is teh only place I know where there is a good chance of ever catching anything, and havent even gotten bites except for a flounder I accidently caught last week ( didnt know it was there till I got the line in lol ) I have met a few raiders there and learnt the art of squidding with a small amount of success. (thanks to squido for that)

Also have met a few guys from Japan who have helped a bit in my search for the elusive Kingfish. Anyway

got there at 4.20am today to try to get something armed with some pillies and some freshish squid ready to get me a huge bagfull (yer right) and nearly straight away started getting hits but no hookups on my new circle hooks (thought I would give these a try ) untill I land a nice little snapper at 25cms yay cherry popped

then bugger all untill my Japanese friends Hidai and Yasu (sorry about the spelling if they are wrong ) they start getting int it and and one of their friends turn up and hit a big king but lost it about 2 mins in after that nothing for a while until Hidai gets a nice fat bream at about 32cms which he left there apparently as a preasent for me ( thanks for that man )

after that (about 10ish) its just me and Yasu when the trevs turn up Yasu bags himself a nice 35cm model and then I'm on after a big fight on my light gear I bring in a big 40cm silver trev (which cooked nicely with corriander and lemon) about 5 mins later I'm on again to something that I can assume is a huge trev as my graphite rod was straining nearly bent in half drag flying off about 50m of 6lb fireline off the reel then it goes slack my 8lb fluro leader is gone at the hook knot NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to let this go unanswered I retie another circle and baitup again and I'm on again a huge fight then the hook pulls before I get to see colour

Stayed for a while longer for nothing so I came home. Thanks again to Hidai and Yasu for the bream and the company, I'll see you next week this time to land me a king!!

sounds like u did good at clifton. it mite have been a small king or something besides a trev. Could u from their movements?

Sounds like a King to me!!

You might consider upping your tackle a bit otherwise, you may go through many circle hooks this summer
