The :wife: says she wants a HD settop box for the new HD channels coming but I dont know if our tv can take a HD settop box

The tv is a four year old LG CT-29M30V 68cm old style tv

Does anybody know anything about this?

Thanks Andrew

Andrew in terms of pic quality you will gain nothing over a SD (standard def) set top box on your telly. 10 & 7 are just trying to remarket something that has been around for a while (chanel 70 & 90are HD) Sound wise the odd program on HD will be in 5.1 dolby sound so if you have a seperate dolby digital amplifer hooked up you will gain sound like your DVD's. my 2c i wouldnt going spending a lot of $ on your current TV.

I'm sorry to say it but I have to agree...

I work for a leading consumer electronics company and the feedback I've heard from a lot of people within the industry about LG leaves a lot to be desired...

Putting a set top box on your current TV really won't make a hugely noticeable difference...

I'd be waiting a bit longer and putting that money towards a LCD with built in HD tuner...

Cheers

Tony
