Tld50 2 Speed

Has anyone yet used the new TLD 2 speeds with the upgraded drag and Tiagra handles? If so how did you find them? Im certain they have a greased carbon drag and extra bearings over the old style TLDs. At the curremt prices if they are better than the old TLDs they are a bargain.

Hi Mate,

i have the previous model TLD50II and the current version... I spent a bit of money upgrading it to the TLD50IIA specs so they both match...

As for the technical difference, they have replaced the stainless bearings with the shielded ARB bearings, they have taken the dry carbon washer from the Tiagra30wlrs and used that, although the previous TLD50II came with a carbon washer already.... and they have thrown in a Tiagra handle and shim to suit..

Differences i have noticed is a smoother drag, better free spool (not that it matters with a 50lb game reel) and a tighter gearbox thanks to the higher spec ARB bearings (i.e, less handle wobble)

They are keenly priced this time of year and it is possible to pick them up with a new Beastmaster rod for the same price as the old model.

Heh, the price is what got me. How else can you get a reel that will tackle with most Sydney 'fin and Marlin for that price? It ain't the prettiest, but they are fair tough!
