dunc333
hi guys and (huey).well head was removed and all clear (checked all jackets),so not much left to check so we all thought,so mech decided to remove water intake covers on lower leg and have a look inside.well unbeleivable corrosion and some thought of growth in there. now gear box coming off maybe even powerhead to try and get this corrison out of lower water intake and treat so it looks like we might have a solution to my old mates problem ,we hope to test it on weekend if ready, will keep you all posted, has anyone one had this corrosion growth before and what would cause this?the motor has all ways been flushed after every use, cheers dunc333

a boat
Hi Dunc, good to hear you are making progress. Not sure why this was not spotted earlier, would of saved your mate some dollars and time. The corrosion is down to salt and unfortunately Tohatsu do not have the best reputation for corrosion resistance-they have a high copper content in their alloy, which make it easier to cast but not as good in salt water. You will have to just inspect that area every couple of years and not let it build up as much. Cheers, Huey.
