arpie
Hi guys Good news on Old Bar - the entrance is being worked on as we speak & should be open soon!!! It was about 2001-2 last time it was opened - the unknown factor is How Long will it remain open?? We've had a fair bit of rain, but need continual rain/flood to keep it open longer. However, you can only take 'so much rain' without getting really annoyed!!! It cuts into my fishing time!!! I may just have to take a trip up there to have a fish, when it is open! hobbitt
Yeah, I hear ya about the rain situation, I know we need it and all, but why is it that whenever I'm on rec. leave............. IT RAINS !! Didn't get to go up to either Lauriton (dads) or Forster (fater in laws) and to top it off, the first week end off, we were going to stay at Karuah, but NO....... the van park was fully booked out. BOOKED OUT. They had a wedding in town, and so were all booked. Do you believe that. Hope you do better at the ''Bar'' and look forward to reading your posts on this. I would also like to have a go up there, but I'm not making any plans, with my luck.
arpie
Hi Hobbitt - shame about the weather & that you weren't able to make it up this way - I loved my few days at Dunbogan the other week! It is very much like I imagine Forster used to be like 30 years ago! Give me a yell if/when you come thru next time! Hi Tony - yeah - I noticed myself, that Mick had gone a bit quiet ..... as CFD says - probably too busy fishing!! Cheerio Roberta

Tony Soprano
Good to hear Heath... In your next email you should ask him to tell the raiders another yarn or two sometime! Cheers Tony
Hooky.
Micks still chuggin along, get emails from him regularly. Me too!! And yes he's still around. I spoke to my old man today to try and get him to go down in the 4by to take some more pics but couldn't get him to budge. From what I believe the diggers are only doing their biannual reduction of the sand dunes, ie height, near the opening. Unless someone went down and threw a slab of beer or two near the surf line and told the operator to fetch it in his digger with the bucket in the sand dragging behind him I don't think you'll see it opened up. Personally I don't think that entrance will ever be opened up naturally and it will take some heavy duty lobbying to get it mechanically opened. I'd be more concerned with the proposed additions for Rushby Casino meself.
Heath
The entrance has closed up totally a couple of times actually. If left eventually it would open up, most likely during a storm with a flood.
