There are people who know the lakes well and post all the time. Keep coming here and dont be scared of asking people for help. !2 months ago I couldnt catch a cold, now I regularly get a feed, thanx to the great people here. gretsch
Perseverance is the name of the game Novicefisherman... Maybe next time try a few different baits. It is also good to pick a species and target that species with the gun bait and appropriate rig. For example, there may have been heaps of whiting around but if you are using squid, they probably won't take it. Maybe try some beach worms or pippis next time and see what happens. Not sure on the weed.. we had some bad weather last week so maybe this is the cause. Tight lines.
neilm
Hey mate, Narrabeen is usually pretty clear of weed, so it's not normal for a lot to be there. I'm hearing that the whiting are coming back, although not in great numbers yet - fresh worms are the key. Low tide was just before you got there, and there was a small high last night - generally fishing the incoming tide in the evening is a good plan, the bigger the tide the better I find. I would be inclined to try a variety of baits - as they say, fresh is best, but worms, pilchards, squid, slimey mackerel and so on are all good baits, depending on what you are targetting. I haven't had a chance to get out for a couple of weeks myself - I normally fish up on the northern side at least once a week, so I can't tell you any different, but the beaches will hopefully start to improve over the next week or two if my diary serves me well. arpie
I'm with Ceph & Neilm on this one - WORMS WORMS WORMS! Everything loves worms! You may even end up with a jewie! A big one was caught off the beach up here 2 weeks ago on a bream rod & worm! If you don't know how to worm, put a query up - I am sure a fellow Raider will show you how if you are on or visit the Northern Beaches! Good luck! arpie
Yay Jewgaffer! A livie as well - should really get into something decent! Mind you .... watching 2 rods can be frustrating - wouldn't want to lose one to a big fish! Fingers crossed, Novicefisherman will get into something good pretty soon .... maybe this weekend!
