Rod Tubes

flying to Brisbane on Friday and I'm a bit nervous about my rods

got one of those Jarvis Walker 7' tubes

any tips on keeping my rods one piece ?

yearh...when i flew to tassie i made my own tube out of pvc ..screw on ends..and i stuffed foam inside to keep my preciouse rods safe....no problem..and cheap to...bob

Yea you can take them, what i did to be sure was drill a hole thru the vipper so i could put a padlock on them, last trip the 7' rod tube housed 3 rods so yea its fine.

do some searches there have been some good posts about this topic

a good tip is to wrap your rods with an old rag around a piece of dowl a couple of cm's longer then the longest rod..... this way if the rods move up and down you wont break a tip off.

if you make a tube from pvc im told you should drill some air holes because the preasure on a plane can be so great that the tube will split.

arrive early! as you may have to check you large tube in somewhere special which may take longer than usual. follow the guys with surf boards!!!!
