Fitting Scotty Downrigger 1050 To Hornet 475

Hi Guys,

I received a Scotty downrigger 1050 for xmas

Just trying to work out the best way to fit it to my Hornet Trophy 475.

I have been looking at the optional mounts available and either from lack of information or too many beers I can't work out which one I need

I already have the 360°C Swivel Mount for the larger boat but the dimensions of the base mount doesnt really fit on the gunnels on the 475.(I want it arms reach from the seating position)

If anyone has any experience with the 1050 to the 475 I would be greatly appreciated if you could give any photos/advice/recommendations or beer.

I have 1050 on my475 Bar raider used a spacer block to lift it a tad and Stainless bolts and washers also Sicoflex to prevent salt water getting under the bracket

Hi Matt, so sorry for the very late reply...wireless keyboard died when i posted above hence no text. It's a block of plastic from a plastics specialist. Nothing fancy but works & looks the goods. If you take the scotty base to a plastics shop they'll cut a block for you. If you behaved last year they should drill it for you also. Ask for another, thinner piece to brace underneath. All up you should have change from $30

Sorry to hijack the post but always wondered with the rod holder on the down rigger, are they capable of holding 10kg of drag with a screaming king on the other end or are they just for lighter applications?

I wanted to stick 2 down riggers on the bass boat but can't put rod holders into the gunnels because of the shape(not flat). I was thinking of mounting them to the back of the rear casting platform.

No,

A few guys had their plastic rod holders ripped out of the Gunnels last year by Kings, I definatly don't trust the ones on the boom arm and have taken them off.

Yeah Greg, the scotty holder has no place on your boat...you will lose gear. It does make an excellent stage prop if you need a speed camera, looks just like the real thing! For 'rigging kingis buy a fully welded tube & plate rod holder. be sure it's completely welded around the flange, not tacked or spot welded like 90% of whats out there. i target the big boys outside with PE6-PE8 rated jigging gear with 10-12kg strike and holy crap does it get into some crazy angles #1 tip would be: don't cheap out on any associated 'rigger tackle. Buy the very best you can afford or you'll end up ditching it & buying better gear anyways!
