joshg_888
Hi all just a quick question Im after a jewfish..i caught a couple soapies but nothing worth writing home about lol Where is a decent spot with a good reputation where i can also possibly catch squid or livies at the same time? Land based? I can get boat access sometimes but not all.. Thanks for any ideas
Anti-Carp
There are quite a few spots along the shoreline of the Parra river that are holding jewies at this time of the year. Look for places where there are alot of mullet or sand flats close to deep holes. Lure wise look at 3 inch shrimps such as atomic prong's or gulp shrimps or 4 inch + soft plastic minnow's and shads
snag
On the parra i only know of Chiswick whaft, you can only fish it at night as its used during the day by rivercats. Or you can try cooks river ive caught a few 4kg plus jews there and if you get a boat hit the bridges they get up to 10kg at times. Fresh squid or live mullets will work best or like me use plastics......good luck with the jew hunting.
jewgaffer
Hi JFish The J in your member name stands for jewfish I take it. I'm up in sunny QLD getting soaking wet and blown all over the place by the freaky weather which has been around since I arrived up north almost three weeks ago. These are two top land based spots on the Hawkesbury. 1:- Flat rock point - just walk thru the gate on the left of Brooklyn boat ramp with a couple of long beach rods. You'll get livies off the commercial wharf nearby. Fish off the large flat rock near the red channel marker cast out as far as you can as it drops into near 70 feet and any tide is a good one. 2:- Go thru the gate at the bottom of Brooklyn Rd alongside the car park on a side track leading to the rail cottages near the rail bridge till you come to an old rock jetty structure near the rail bridge and fish off it using heavy lead, varied fish baits live or fillets and fresh squid . This is a run in only spot best at the bottom of the tide up to the still of top. Both spots are proven jewfish spots over time and some very big jew have been caught at both these spots. A bi catch of good size flathead is on the cards in deep water at this time of year Hopes this helps Cheers jewgaffer Edited January 2, 2008 by jewgaffer
