arpie
Well done Peter! Glad you got into some. I tried the rocks here with the cunje, but really prefer the breakwall or along the leases .... a bit safer! Anyway, I don't want to bag out!! i am happy with 2 or 3. Good excuse to go out again! I have fished the breakwall for an hour or so in the last day or 2 - you can always find a nice safe eddy somewhere & got a few hits - had one very nice one on for a short while, but he got off. Lots of smaller throwbacks. I was hoping the bigger blackies had moved in there away from the big seas - but they weren't near me! When fishing with the cunje, usually you have to find a protected hole or gutter where the fish retreat to during the big seas. There has to be a lot of wash hitting it (white water & sand that doesn't clear after the wave has passed.) If the water clears quickly so you can see the bottom, there usually won't be fish there. We have a couple of good spots up here that usually work well - but entails rock climbing and/or very wet feet & legs! Hence, my choice of the easy spots in preference to the difficult ones! Cheerio Roberta I fear all our cabbage has been blown to smithereens too! Darn it! Edited January 5, 2008 by Roberta
jewgaffer
Hi Pete Happy New Year !! Good to see you getting among all those blackfish. I got the lady to cook me up some drummer fillets at a little eat in fish cafe near the boat ramp at Labrador the other day and boy oh boy was it nice eating! Also I was talking to some kiwi tailor blokes at the surfers spit and I was surprised when they said that one of their favourite eating fish was barbecued blackfish and ginger with lime juice. Hey Pete when those big seas settle it might pay to get the old jew gear out again up there ay. Looking forward to another session when I get back from the north coast Pete but lets make it jew this time ay mate. Seems those blackfish are a wake up to my intentions of using them as jew baits. Cheers for now mate. jewgaffer
