Edward
went out fishing on monday morning using nippers at the bay north of the end of smiths creek (the big long creek that goes for ages) fished all morning for heaps of small whiting and 2 25cm+ whiting, one went back accidentally hehe. Fished later again in the arvo late run out right on dusk using nippers got 3 25cm+ whiting and a nice flattie also in the morning i netted a huge blue swimmer then i spotted one later in the arvo but dad has not yet masterd the net very fun and productive day (for me anyway) cant go wrong with nippers.... Guest johblow
Your dead right - you cant go wrong with nippers! Have you tried fishing in all the murky stuff you throw up while pumping? Always guaranteed to get some (but they may be on the small side...!) While this topic is in the general locale, ive got a question you may be able to answer for me about the cottage point area... that no wash zone confuses me a bit. I see people hooning through there all the time creating wash... is it just a matter of keeping the wash away from the cottage point shore, because there is no speed limit there... (accept for south of the special marks which is 4 kts)...?
Tommo
it simply means that you can plain throught there if you have smallish boat that dosnt create that much wash, but cruisers and larger boats have to do a speed that they create no wash at. so if you own a trialer boat it would be safe to say that as long as you keep away from cottage point side you will be fine, but again use descretion if you feel your wake is large then slow down i always plain right through there as my boat makes less wash going flat out as it does doing 4 knots and have never been pulled up P.S if you hug the side with the boats and house this dos not apply

Edward
johblow i have seen small bout planing through the no wash zone and get pulled up. the sneaky msb have two boats one right near the no wash zone watching for people and u may drive past and think ur save then 500m south of it there is another one which will pull you up... this may not always happen but i can imagine it to be a hot spot for fines. also another thing to watch out for all of smiths creek is now a no wash 8 knt zone. we saw the ice cream man get pulled up by the msb so be on the watch esp on public holidays and weekends. g day iain i guess just been doing other stuff.... i recently bought a 1976 vw kombi camper and me and dad are rebuilding the motor and gearbox should hav that sorted in a week or two and been getting into surfing a bit more.... i have still been fishing just not posting as much. Looks like the site has really kicked off, great work ken bet your proud. (and rich if u didnt live so close to a pub hehe) What have you been upto iain getting much fish? oh yea and karma is a bitch sometimes, stupid sand flys got bout 20 bites and they wont stop itching gues its a two way thing, is this why fisherman have such bad luck sometimes (killing fish is bad??) Guest johblow
I'll work on the principle that in a small boat, sticking to the northern shore and creating minimal wash I'll plane through Cottage Point. I know I'd be giving the Waterways bloke a gobful consistent with the fine if I was pinged for that. 25655[/snapback] I agree Iain. I cant see that there is anything more precious about the northern shore opposite cottage point than anywhere else along the unrestricted area. Therefore, one can only assume that i is all about the morings over yonder. Funny how something that should be very clear cut becomes very messy, and waterways really arent doing anything to help clear it up!!!
Edward
boats are always goin wrong iain lol whats the prob? anything serious? to be safe going through the no wash zone i wud go and buy a 250hp yamaha and put it on a 15ft tinny..... you will never get another fine i garentee it lol although the fuel cost would be a problem...
