jenno64
Haven't posted for a while but have been enjoying all your posts and gleaning info to hone my skills on the water. Tuesday arvo headed up to middle harbour from Lane Cove in my mates timber cruiser( a tad bigger than my Hobie for a lazy overnighter. Tried a few renowned squid grounds for a big donut but wasn't worried as we had live poddies, nippers and some worms. Moored up near Bantry Bay for a great feed and a few then started flicking a large sp when bait in the area where bait started freaking out. First cast out near the shore was bounced back toward to boat and bang..about half way back this nice lizard nailed it and after a short fight on 6 pound mainline and leader she was netted (after one or two attempts) This was a god start to the overnighter but trhe rest of the night saw only smallish bream and puffers the size of a Sherrin. Next morning hit middle head for some nice breaky and squidding again but to no avail although picked up a couple of bream to keep the s happy. On the way back we stopped in a sheltered bay to flick afew sps and have a swim. as we arrived a couple of rat kings were herding baitfish under th boat in a bout 3m of water but they had no interest in our lures. Wouldn't you know it I picked up a nice whiting back on the mooring at Lane Cove when we were cleaning the boat. The funny thing was that as it came up from deeper water there were two other whiting of similar size harrassing it right up to the surface. Overall, a very pleasant overnight expedition witha great mate and a few quality fish to put on the table for both families.
