Taking Real Looking Photos

Brian

Recommended Posts

Gents and Ladies,

I've been, as we all have, watching the too-ings and throwings of some recent posts and their legitimacy with regards to photos and fish size. We all know the trick of holding a fish as far forward in the photo as possible to improve its looks but, maybe we need to set a guide line of posting photos that they include some other item of measure, obvioulsy a ruler if handy but anything to make a realistic comparison and with the real big fish hold them to our body. Just a thought but, the smoke and mirrors is taking the glean off some potentially great fish photos and the credibility of the angler.

Brian, lighten up a little. This is a fun and enjoyment forum and I don't think it's fair to cast aspersions on the credibility of other members. From my experience with the Raiders I have met personally, I doubt if any of the regulars practise any form of deception when posting pics or providing information. In fact, the majority of the threads are very informative, truthful and very helpful to other members seeking information on all sorts of topics. It is quite natural to hold a fish slightly away from your body when photographing and if you choose to follow the fishing reports, most have pics taken with the fish on a measuring scale of some description. I think that you should look at this forum in the light in which it was created - one that is designed to be helpful, entertaining, non-vindictive and enjoyable for all.

Couldn't agree more Tuffy. I don't know if you have been online in the last few hours but a few posts, which the mods have now removed, certainly raised some hairs on some peoples backs.

Cheers,

Brian.

Hi fellow Raiders, there have been dubious pictures in the past and the members quickly jump up and down to alert the Administration

Fishraiders are quite studious and it is quite difficult to pull the wool over their eyes :biggrin2:

If it is found that someone has tried to flim flam the members they will be removed from the forums as we at Fishraider like to have credible reports to view at all times.

Alot of high profile fishing journalists look at our forums as guests and we expect that all members post their catches as true as possible.

Holding the fish out a little is not always to make the fish look bigger, but to avoid spines and spikey bits which may cause the angler injury.

To all the members who made comments in that Bream post, there will be no warnings to anyone.

You have had your say and Administration has acted on it.

Yatman has been suspended until I get to the bottom of this.

Just a little bit of feedback for everyone.

I have spoken with Yatman on the phone and he will send me some other shots of this bream.

He was told the incorrect weight by his friend and the fish is 64 cms and 3.2kgs.

Once I have a look at the photos in high res, I will put them up in this post for all to give their thoughts and if the members give the thumbs up ,Yatman will be re-instated.

I hope this is fair and reasonable to all parties ??

Cheers Swordfisherman

i can not believe that people on this site are concerned with the fact that somebody is holding the fish closer to the camera to make there fish look bigger. What they should be concerned with is the problem of people not putting there pictures on this site as to not be picked on,there are so many good people associated with fish raider but seems to be a few drinkers .I like to see fish been caught the bigger they look the better the photo doesnt it go hand in hand with a fisherman the over extension of arms when discosing the size of the fish caught and last thing those brag mats make fish look small and dead ,could it be we have to also prove to each other our fish size i trust you all and hope you enjoy your fishing .

good luck to all

The most disappointing aspect of this whole fiasco is the attack dogs that came out of the wood work, heckles raised ready to pounce.

One thread was deleted, so you guys created and or contributed to another.

Very very shabby!!

In my opinion you guys (You know who you are) should be barred until you can prove you have some thing positive to contribute. Todays efforts were way less than enjoyable to watch unfold!!

It is not the fact a fish is held closer or further away.

It is in the past there has been people that have decided

to Photoshop/alter via PC to make a fish look bigger then it is.

Lets wait and see some high res pictures as stewy has suggested he take.

Once again I will re-itterate that this fish was huge by bream standards and it will be sorted out by myself.

As for members jumping up and down about bodgey fish pics,we have had a few over time including a marlin that was over 1000 lb caught off Sydney which was actually caught in Cairns and the angler who posted it wasnt even the person who caught it and when I looked at the posted picture it has Cairns marlin from 2004 :biggrin2:

Please dont let this post get out of hand.

I am dealing with the issue and do not want this to go any further.

Regards Swordfisherman.
