Ray R
I have just come back from a walk around Avoca Rocks, what a shame to see the mess I gathered up broken beer bottles, plastic bags, old line rusty hooks, plastic drink bottles, a broken dinner plate, little glow stick packets, used glow sticks and other bits and pieces, what intrigues me is a Current Affair story this week had two council workers doing a very boring job at Norah Head, I bet they would love to have the job of fining these people who leave rubbish all over the rocks at Avoca as well as handing out info leaflets written in several languages, this might help the problem as well as making some money for the local council. I will still carry my plastic bag with when I go for a fish around the rocks because I know I will fill it with the rubbish left by inconsiderates and bring it back myself. This one of my playgrounds, imagine the uproar if all this was found in a council playground, gimme a uniform and a ticket book and I'LL DO IT... Davemmm
theres some anger in you from time to time Ray I read an article in a very very old fishing mag that was basically centred around the same subject but it was in the early eighties. Over the years we have cleaned up our act in regards to throwing stuff out of car windows and dumping crap on the side of highways. You would think that people who rely on a clean environment, like fishos, would have changed their ways by now. Going on your rant though onbviously not. Bruce the Postie
I agree Ray, this sort of thing is chronic on Avoca rocks, many times trolling past this area i have seen theese grubs at work and it's not just litter they leave behind as more than once we have witnessed the pigs backing one out on the rocks and not even bothering with the paperwork . FILTHY PIGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bruce
livo
Couldn't agree more Ray. Perhaps it's time for another TV assault on the TOSSERS. There seems to be an attitude problem relating to litter these days and you can rest assured it's not confined to Avoca Fishos, although that is a big worry in itself. As a person who works in close proximity with young people, (not far from your home) I can tell you it is jaw-droppingly amazing to see just how much they are prepared to sit and socialise in there own filth. I regularly drive past a particular skate park on my way around and without doubt on Monday morning there is a team of Council employees doing the big cleanup following the weekends fun. I've cooked two outboards over the years directly attributable to discarded plastic bags. Not too happy when that happens. Out fishing just after Xmas in front of Terrigal we came across a large bunch of shiny metalic party balloons floating around offshore. Amazing what some people let go. Anyhow Ray, ditto what you said.

TODAY WE ARE SEEING AN INCREASED AMOUNT OF RUBBISH BEING THROWN OUT OF CAR WINDOWS. ADD THIS TO A LIST OF LITTER CAUSES. 1. GARBAGE BINS PUT OUT FOR COLLECTION (OVERFILLED) ENDING UP IN OUR GUTTERS. 2. COUNCIL CLEANUPS. (HOW MUCH RUBBISH CAN PEOPLE HAVE. WHAT A WASTE!!! ) CHECK IT OUT AFTER A BIG BLOW. 3. DUMPED RUBBISH. ( HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE TIP LATELY. SEE HOW MUCH THEY ARE CHARGING.) BIG DOLLARS!!! DAVE, I GO WALKING EVERY DAY AND I MUST SAY I AM DISGUSTED AS TO THE AMOUNT OF RUBBISH THAT IS BEING LEFT AROUND. HAVE YOU BEEN TO OUR BEACHES IN THE MORNINGS BEFORE COUNCIL CLEANS UP. SORRY BUT I HAVE TO SAY THIS BUT WE ARE DROWNING IN OUR OWN SHIT!!!! WHAT YOU SEE ON OUR STREETS AND GUTTERS WILL MOST PROBABLY END UP IN OUR WATERWAYS. IN GENERAL,IT IS NOT JUST THE FISHO' WHO IS TO BLAME.WE ARE ALL CONTRIBUTING IN SOME WAY. nargse1
Ray, i been up to the entrance a few times the last few weeks to fish at the mouth on the northern side. usually i fish the beach areas if up there. im not sure if its because of the holidays but im disgusted at the amount of rubbish around that area from the carpark to the mouth of the entrance. and in saying that there are a few bins in plain view. im not sure also how many times yesterday my feet were tangled in fishing line left on the sand also. tyrone07
Nexus being a local of avoca, i no for a fact that the people who leave the rubbish around the rocks are not from our own backyard. These are people that come into avoca with a complete lack of respect for anything and make our reputations look bad. Its not hard to take what you bring away but such an easy concept goes well beyond some people Tyrone
