hi all

just wondering how do you find out about the maxium size of motor you can put on the back of a plate boat

i own a 5.2m sea al and have to up grade my motor but unsure what is the max size .

could any one that knows when and where let me know .

Hi mate, there should be a manufactuers plate somewhere at the back of your boat. it should tell you but if not then you could ring the boat dealership nearest to you

Hi Richard, your 5.2 Sea Al will not be a plate boat. It will have 3mm bottom and 2 mm sides. The latest 525 Brooker/Sea Als have a max HP rating of 90HP and with a 90HP on the transom performance would be great and if going to a "clean" engine the fuel economy will be better than what you are probably getting at the moment with your outboard.
